    Hi,

I remember hearing that they were planning on (briefly) addressing the whole Alex-SVU-witness protection matter at some point. Did they ever do that? I did not notice it. I heard that it was going to be done by her mentioning it or something similar so I guess I could have missed it if they did. If they did not, then it's a real mess because now they'll never really get the chance and people will forever be able to complain about the inconsistency.

I'm curious on HOW she got out of witness protection. I haven't seen the show, because I don't think that it ever aired in Australia. So was it ever mentioned???

I have the whole series on DVD and they never mentioned once how she came back from Witness Protection. Since she was a last minute addition to the show, Dick Wolf stated that there would have been an explanation on how she came back, but since the series ended prematurely, that part of the storyline never came up.

Yeah I am in the process of watching the entire season of Conviction, and I was surprised that they didn't mention anything about how Alex Cabot came out of witness protection in the first episode. I think that if they had taken the time to let the viewers know, that they would have made the connection between SVU and Conviction quicker. Maybe the show would have gained some more viewers. I woudn't be surprised if there were a lot of people who didn't know that there was a connection between the shows with the character Alex Cabot.

I think I remember reading somewhere, during the time they were first promoting and explaining the premise of the show, that supposedly the guy that Alex helped put away and wanted to kill her died, and maybe his group split up, and thus she could come out of witness protection. They never explained any of it on Conviction though. I think they kind of ignored her past cuz they knew it wouldn't make sense. I mean, how does someone who hasn't been able to practice law for over a year due to being in witness protection get promoted to a position where the death of a boss dude can make her bureau chief??? And in a different bureau than the one she was in before??? I realized after they didn't address her past within the first three episodes on Conviction that they probably never would, so I gave up hope of that or SVU friend guest-appearances. I mean, you can almost consider Conviction's Alex to be a totally different character anyway, just due to the changes in her personality and such. Not to mention the fact that she had a past relationship with Steele when all relavent knowledge suggests she probably should have still been in witness protection when that was supposed to have happened.
