Pierrot le Fou
The English title of the episode is taken from Jean-Luc Goddard's 1965 film Pierrot le Fou. (edit) Phantasm
In Don Coscarelli's 1979 horror film Phantasm (and its three sequels), the villain known simply as The Tall Man refers to the main character as "boy" with a certain unmistakable tone and inflection. It is almost exactly the same way that Mad Pierrot greets Spike in his first appearance. (edit)
