Great story and a better than average episode for this show. hide show

In my view this is a pretty good episode. A very good story, takes us full circle as the team evaluates the evidence and discounts likely suspects, to reach the real culprit at the end.

The usual high gloss finish of CSI:M is perforated by some over-the-top acting in some scenes, mostly from Caruso. There is still too many scenes where the tone or emotion plays out in a bipolar way, that just doesnt build up any tension or drama. Though at least the over-dramatic panoramic shots aren't as many.

Dialogue is fairly average, but at least it doesnt detract from whats going on, on-screen. There some scenes however that do fall quite flat, mainly due to the supporting cast playing the witnesses/suspects.

Ultimately though, the best things about this episode is the nature of the story, the chain of scenes building up to the finale as the team perform the investigation and the scenes at the petrol station and the car chase with Cali. Even if the roads where suspiciously devoid of traffic.

Still a good episode to watch if you want kill an hour or so.

As is usual with the TV and movie writers, science is not exactly their strong point. hide show

As is usual with the TV and movie writers, science is not exactly their strong point. When Delco is examining the phone that had been converted into a stun gun, he said that it was 300 volts. In actuality, 300V would not produce an arc like he demonstrated. 300,000V would be more accurate.

Also, the cell phone did not need to be *converted* to be a stun gun -- there are companies that *make* stun guns that look like cell phones.

Also, when the trailer that was used to siphon gasoline was shown, there was a gasoline powered pump in it. If someone was using a gasoline powered pump inside a trailer like that, they would have to worry about carbon monoxide poisoning unless it was vented outside. At the very least, it would make enough noise that someone would notice.

This sort of theft has happened though, but the criminals use electric powered pumps, not gasoline powered ones.

A burning body runs through a beach party and dies on the beach. We learn that the victim was part of a crime ring that was stealing gasoline. Later it's revealed that the crime ring is also connected to human trafficking. hide show

We finally get to see the new M.E and I have to say it was love at first sight. She seemed different that the typical M.E.'s we see on the TV, and I'm hopping to see her soon again. I also really liked Ryan's new, more relaxed style, even though it was little noticeable after all the suits. Hopefully it means that he's getting some new story lines, 'cause I'm a big fan of Ryan. Actually, it's hard for me to say what I didn't like about this episode. The script was well written and it was easy to just enjoy the ride. There were so many twists that you really couldn't tell who was the guilty guy. It was also a nice change that Horatio was more involved in the case, instead of just talking to the suspects. I hope that it's a permanent change.

Playing with my dog was more fun. hide show

Okay, so I have to ask - are the denizens of Miami's beach party scene really so self-involved that not one would assist someone on fire, but merely stand there doing nothing but looking appalled? I think I'd be insulted by that.

We didn't get into the colour of the day til a little later, since of course the beach party motif requires dressing in all white (after Labout Day?? How shocking!) but they're rerunning the green theme, with touches of yellow thrown in just for a little variety. Calleigh's tendency to wear high heels at the sandy beach still leaves me bemused, however.

Though the summary of the story appeared to seem timely, considering the world's gas woes, it's rather misleading, and I found it rather uninteresting. Calleigh's being a ditz, letting Wolfe find the key piece of evidence from the burned Escalade, and the new ME - is it me, or does she seem a little young for the part? I spent the first half of the ep watching it upside down from the floor while I played with my dog, and couldn't be bothered to watch it over again.

H's little dramatic reveal at the end was rather cool, I will admit - probably the best part of the episode.
