(edit) The umbrella gun and ricin pellet murder is based on a real life event. On September 7, 1978, Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov was shot in the leg on Waterloo Bridge in London with a ricin pellet shot from a modified umbrella by a man. Markov died three days later. (edit)
