What is it about CSI NY that makes it possible to enjoy watching the same episode again and again? I loved this episode back when I first watched it, and watching it again only confirms how good it is. Not only it feels great to see Mac opening up for the possibility of a new relationship, after seeing him suffering the loss of his wife in silence for the whole season. It's always interesting to see him interacting with people who don't work for him, like the waitress who knows him, the attractive woman who talks to him at the diner… Of course then he becomes Mac again, taking charge, helping the woman, trying to keep the guy from shooting, being the best eyewitness there's ever been. But Mac knows sometimes the whole picture is larger than the eyes can see, hence the title – what you see is only what you see, you can get a lot more when you dig after it. Hawkes appears distracted at the morgue, then we learn he's applying to become a CSI. By the way, in this first season, everything was so dark, sometimes it gave a feeling they were working in a basement – specially in the morgue scenes. Danny still had his glasses – how I miss them. Flack had sideburns and longer hair and looked like a kid, it seems it was 10 years ago or more, not just 4 seasons. Stella is wonderful, as usual, but also in her support of Mac and her clear desire to see him moving on.
Aiden, now – I always loved her evident friendship with Danny, the way they'd joke and just be comfortable around each other. In this episode, we see her taking care of Danny, trying to help him, and it feels good for they are obviously not attracted to each other in a romantic way. It's friendship, pure and simple, and it sounds just right.
I'm writing this at the same time I'm watching the chapter so it could end up being quite long!
*I love the song 'It's a beautiful day'! The opening scene is great.
*Mac in casual clothes looks great. Oatmeal person! Rose being all nervous talking with him and Mac's reaction was really cute.
*Kinky JJ noticed that you can see Mac's underwar while he is applying pressure to the waitress wound.
*OMG! Flack with long sideburns and a normal tie!!
*Aren't Danny's eyes even more blue??? I want the glasses back...
*I love Stella's face when Rose tells her that the guy she was trying to talk was Mac. She looks amused!!
*I miss the old morgue. I think that Hawkes is filling the form too!
*Can't Danny get in a room without making so much noise???
*The bone thing Hawkes does it's kinda cool, and possible. Bones are flexible at least for a few hours after death and when you are alive too. *I loved Aiden being so concerned about Danny, and him being himself, 'I can't handle it'...
*Flack's leather jacket is baaaack!!! *I love NY night shots, those images of times square were really beautiful!
*Shooting scene outside the precinct: WOW... Mac and Stella were really near they could have received the bullet!! The shooter must be really good!
*Flack without tie trying the bikes...*GASMS*
*Flack needs a haircut... but the sideburns have to stay!!! PLEASE!!
*Hawkes working as ME and taking pics of the vic at the scene! I love his purple gloves!!
*Mac talking with the DA and then the wife arrives and Mac face changes completely. It seems to me that he misses Claire, of course, but that he misses having a relationship, someone to have dinner with after a long day at work...
*Is Danny's accent even toughter to understand??? He looks great with those suits and shorter hair, and the glasses....
*The thing they do with the bills is really cool!
*The crystall investigator is such a dork!
*The localitzation of the call was really cool too!!
*The interrogation room is quite creepy!! Seems like an old basement...
*Poor Danny... Mac is being a little wough with him but he kinda deserves it...
* LOL at Mac checking out Stella!
*MAc doubting Danny is kinda sad! And for a moment I think he thinks about letting Danny go and putting Hawkes in his place!
*I love Stella's face when MAc says that it can wait until the next day!
*Really good Smacked friendship moment!!
*Mac being all nervous about dating is really cute!!
*I really liked that the final shot is a New York view!
Nice chapter! I really love it!!
Everything is connected. hide show
A shooting at Mac's favorite breakfast diner. The victims, the witness', the shooter, all connected. Man do I love this show. It turns out, there was supposed to be an undercover treasury operation going down at Mac breakfast diner. His favorite waitress gets shot and he's on a mission. Mac and the team become involved in taking down a counterfeit ring. With Mac as an eye witness, as Flack says can't get better eye witness information than that. I loved the links to the treasury, to the victims, from the technology to the informant working for the treasury. In the end the ring gets broken up and Mac gets a date. Works for me.
An informant turned murderer, and Mac the witness to a crime. Great episode- great character development. hide show
The Beginning:
I loved seeing someone flirt with Mac. He has so much charisma and it seemed to be ignored for such a long time. And then there was the crazy shootout. I couldn’t help but think, you had to have stopped.
The Case:
The entire case was on counterfeit money! I couldn’t believe it. I mean, the shootout happened because of some stupid people. And one of said stupid people got his girlfriend almost killed. I felt so bad for the brother. It seemed so sure that it was him. I loved the scene when they slam into him. I loved that again, we had the entire team on a case. It was wonderful.
Favorite Scene:
Of course, it had to be the ending with Mac being on the date with the woman from the morning. It was adorable seeing him all afraid of being stood up. Great character development.
Overall:
This episode was a great episode. The case was intense, but mostly because there was a lot of back and forth that kept going on. We knew who the killer was, we just had to get to him. Then of course, they had to catch the person shooting at him. And we find him too. The only thing is that the most memorable part was Mac's date. Not necessarily a bad thing, as it is character development.
