Grissom: I believe the, uh, glass pressure traveled from the rear of the vehicle, through the front... (Grissom shines a flashlight into the car and finds a pair of dismembered feet) ... and evidently separated the driver's body at the ankles. (to David) David, we have body parts in the car!
David: I've been looking for the feet.
Grissom: I found 'em. (edit)
(looking at a science project volcano)
Catherine: In fifth grade I built one of these as my science fair project, it was awesome. First place should have been mine, but they ended up giving it to this kid with some lame red ant colony. (Grissom is smiling) That was you!
Grissom: Yeah, only my ants were black Argentineans.
Catherine: Uh-huh.
Grissom: I learned at a very early age that the bugs always win.
Catherine: Right. (edit)
Sheriff Atwater: Car bomb. Driver and valet are dead. Another valet is critical. At least a dozen injured. I was having dinner here. I was on my way out. If it had gone off a couple seconds later you'd be picking my badge up off the ground.
Grissom (sarcastic): Thank God you're all right. (edit)
Grissom: So, one of us has to call the Sheriff.
Brass: I'll flip 'ya for it. (edit)
Grissom: Here comes the press. You're on. I wish I could help but I got a vehicle to process.
Sheriff Atwater: C'mon, Grissom. Bomb goes off and everyone thinks it's a hit. What do you think?
Grissom: I'm not thinkin'. I'm lookin'.
Sheriff Atwater: That's good. Can I use that? (edit)

Trivia

add »
At the beginning of the episode when there is a panorama of Vegas that shows the Myles Reuben billboard, the singer's name is spelled as above: 'Myles Reuben'. When Sara and Warrick match the fingerprints on the dial of the hottub to the manager, Sam Hopkins, the name of the performer is spelled 'Myles Ruben'. They forgot the first 'e' in the second showing of his name. (edit)
Sara had a fur jacket on, she's a vegetarian right, wouldn't she have something against fur? Even fake fur? In "Evaluation Day," she took it really hard when she found out about that gorilla!

Response: Sara is a vegetarian, not a vegan. Vegans are against wearing anything made from animals. (edit)
In the re-creation of Amelia's death scene, she is shown thrashing about and going under-water, yet the coroner said she didn't drown because she didn't have water in her nasal sinuses. They were "clear as a bell". (edit)

Allusions

add »
The title of the episode "Grissom Versus The Volcano" alludes to a 1990 movie, Joe Versus The Volcano, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. (edit)
Sara: I'll take the West Wing.

Sara says this when conducting a search, a reference to Jorja Fox's role as Gina Toscano on The West Wing. (edit)
