Apparently because he and CBS couldn't "come to terms" with the contract. Plus also you must have heard that Gary recently got arrested for drug possession, and one of the reasons he's leaving might be that he's going to sort his life out.

Isn't he doing one of the voices for the new animated Batman movie? I think it is completed by now.

Aha, that was ready by now. I read about it, too. And he was supposed to do any movies too, but I dont know after this incidence how many odds he has to do them... And I think he has much more near his ears..

I think that it was a combination of things that have lead to him leaving. Gonna miss him!

I read on the episode guide that Sara might come back if that happens i will be so happy and Sara and Grissom will have a chance together.

Gonna miss him! | I'll miss him so much so that I've decided as a viewer that I'll possibly kiss the show(s) goodbye. This is not entirely due to Warrick leaving - CSI has been one of my favourite shows for 8 years (I only watched in initially because I'm a fan of the Who and was attacted by the theme music - then I was hooked). But for me it's been going downhill since they established a personal relationship between Grisson and Sara (sorry to those who liked that aspect! I think I'm in a minority on that one). Plots after the miniature killer seemed (to me) to lack the sharpness they'd once had. I've even been (gasp) bored on occasion. It's still the best of the CSI series for me, but when my PVR got stroppy so that I had to choose between CSI and Waking the Dead - I found it very easy to choose the latter.... With 'tv watching time' at a premium in my life, I'm no longer willing to spend an hour on CSI. I could bear to lose almost any of the other characters than Warrick. Or Grissom. Or Willows. For me those 3 represented the dynamic of the show.

Dude, are you kidding me? I got three words for you - ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. Hollywood thrives on this kind of thing - he'll probably have offers pouring in from all over the place. | nicole_csi wrote: | | I read on the episode guide that Sara might come back if that happens i will be so happy and Sara and Grissom will have a chance together. |
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - to both scenarios!!! Oh, and word to dmjg's entire post.

Warrick was far from being important towards the dynamics of the show.. In fact, he was probably one of the least important characters. He barely had any screen time, not much back story, we never got emotionally connected with him. He was just there. Grissom and Cath are really the only ones they need to keep.

Speak for yourself, I loved Warrick. There are many people who thought his role was an important dynamic to the show whether he got a lot of screen time or not and he was faaarrrrrr from being "just there". And the fact that he did get less screen time than the others and still maintained his "one of the main characters, in the opening credits" title proves just how important that dynamic was to CSI.

I am (obviously!) with Lillyland on this one - to me Gary remains essential. Despite the lack of storylines, I really liked his character, which encapsulated one of the things I loved about CSI in the first place - concentration on good plots precisely lacking all those tedious emotional attachments that litter up so many shows, which CSI had avoided for longer than most shows. I've been offline at home for a few weeks and will remain so till next week, but specifically navigated to this site (um.....from work ) hoping to see a 'spoiler' indicating that the programme makers had re-thought this disastrous decision. They apparently haven't, so it looks as if I'll have an tv-free extra hour. Ah well - I was probably watching it too much anyway...

Heh~, I was on the cusp before the dismissal of GD. This news kind of cemented things for me so now I find that I will have that extra hour of television every week as well. But, there's always the repeats on Spike TV.

Dourdan will be missed. He was a fine actor and a good fit for the show. I hope he gets another TV project soon.

Is that a US channel? I live in England. There is a channel that shows repeats here, so it isn't an insurmountable problem, but I was really looking forward to the development of his character, and liked his inter-changes with Stokes and Willows. Fun stuff minus sloppy, soppy sentimentalism

Yes dmjg, Spike TV is a US channel, and a fairly new one at that. I've been watching it since the beginning simply because when they first came on the air I think CSI, was their bread-n-butter because it's almost all they showed. They have a lot more shows airing now but they still air about 3 epiosodes every day during prime time hours. And when a holiday rolls around you can almost always count on a CSI marathon. I also love the interactions between the 3 of them, Brown, Stokes and Willows. There were times when things got a little heavy but for the most part it's been about fun stuff. Although it was kind of bizarre when Warrick's character popped up married, they followed it up with a few marital spats/woes, an implied pregnancy and bam - he's gone. I would love to have seen his storyline/character develop more as well.

Spike TV sounds good - but would eat up the extra tv-free hour I was just awarded! Yes, the whole marriage thing weirded me out, too - never saw the context or purpose. If there was anything deep and meaningful in it - I missed it. Shame - will have to watch repeats after all um... just in case I missed something, y'know?
