Grissom: I'm at a railroad spur about a quarter of a mile from the house.
Jack: You taking a trip?
Grissom: Carmen Davis's house was next to the tracks, too.
Jack: So?
Grissom: Freight trains carry bulk fertilizer. I think your killer is riding the rails. (edit) Sara: I hear your abduction case is now a serial murder.
Jack: Uh ... yeah.
Sara: Well ... uh ... I got called into work early, but I did pick up Hank, and I took him to the sitter.
Grissom: Thank you. I'll see you when I see you.
Sara: Pleasure. (turns and leaves)
Jack: Hmm. ... Is Hank your kid?
Grissom: Hank's my dog. She walks him for me sometimes.
Jack: Oh, yeah, that's how it starts. Oh, I have some experience dating in the workplace.
Grissom: Really? And, uh ... how'd it work out for you?
Jack: Undetermined. (edit) Warrick: Adoptive parents had no contact with the kidnappers? They were not given any ransom demands?
Jack: There was no motive. I couldn't even give the parents a reason.
Grissom: Maybe there isn't one. (edit) Nick: Why kidnap a kid, wait six years, then kill him?
Catherine: Most four-year-olds will do what you tell them. Most ten-year-olds will do what they want. (edit) Jack: When I heard about the ViCAP hit, I got here as fast as I could.
Brass: Chopper from the Strip? That's nice. That's my tax dollars at work? (edit)

In this episode we figure out that Grissom's dog is named Hank.
Coincidentally, Hank was also the name of the paramedic that Sara dated in Seasons 2 and 3. (edit) When Nick is dusting for fingerprints on the piece of paper, in the casino, he touches it himself - several times - but isn't wearing any gloves. (edit) When Warrick is down at PD; taking Mr. Michael's palm prints. You can see that Warrick failed to get ink on all of the palm. (edit) The CSI's chase a suspect to a train that's pulling out of a railroad spur. The train has a passenger car amid a number of freight cars.
This NEVER happens. Other than major metro commuter services, AMTRAK handles almost all passenger railroad business in the United States and its all on passenger only trains. Passenger trains require conductor/ticket takers where freight trains do not. (edit) Vi-CAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program)was started by the FBI in 1985. It is used to track and compile information on violent crime, especially murder. (edit)

Grissom: I've learned that sometimes you can go faster by going slow.
Grissom made a similar observation in "Crate 'n Burial": "...it's my experience that, in situations like this, if you want to go fast, go slow." (edit)
