    Intriguing hide show

A fairly strong episode, well constructed. As youd expect most locations swing from the crime lab and the correctional facility where the victim was incarcerated. Nothing new with the locations, yet do work well to set the visual setting of the crime scene and the world of our suspects.

Dialogue is above average as to what youd expect to hear from CSI. Plotwise, the idea behind an escaping convict is a plausible red herring, and yet we almost certainly know that there is more to it than meets the eye. In this regard the early part of the episode does a splendid job of building up the driver/guard as the culprit, once a failed escape is discounted. This line of inquiry is promoted moreso when we discover the pregancy of the vic.

However, the finale does this episode justice. The simple dismssed, callous disregard for life by the victims apparent soulmate, over jealously worked for me! This twist though predictable was nicely done.

    A solidly good episode.

  • Catherine: Did you notice anything unusual in the back of the bus?
    Juanita: Like what?
    Catherine: Blood or ... semen?
    Juanita: Didn't see any blood.
    Catherine: What about semen?
Juanita: Don't they still do it in the backseat in the free world?
Catherine: Yeah. But I doubt if conjugal visits are permitted in a prison bus.
Juanita: Conjugal visits aren't permitted anywhere. The ACLU was going to bring a case that's ... (she looks at the Warden and changes what she's about to say) The only men permitted in this correctional facility are the correctional officers.
Warden Huddon: It's a class "d" felony for a co to have sexual contact with an inmate.
Catherine: Lots of things are felonies, but people still do them. Otherwise, you and I'd be out of a job. []
  • Sara: Did you know the dead woman, baby girl, Antoinette Stella?
Doug: Start seeing 'em as real people, start carin' when they go back to their pimp dealer scumbag boyfriend?
    Sara: That's enlightened.
    Doug: That's reality. []

    Doc Robbins: Urine... you're out.
    Catherine: Home pregnancy test, huh?
Doc Robbins: It's about 10 times cheaper than the brand sold by our medicial supply company. But just as accurate.
Catherine: Eye on the bottom line. I find that very---
    Doc Robbins: Sexy?
Catherine: Prudent. But that was a good try.
Doc Robbins: Ah, plus sign. You know what that means.
    Catherine: Who's yo daddy? []

  • Catherine: Nick, take Sara and go directly to jail.

This could be a reference to the board game Monopoly, when a player gets sent to jail, the rules are 'Go directly to jail, don't pass go, don't collect 200 dollars.' []
  • Doc Robbins: Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio.

Quote is from William Shakespeare's Hamlet, 1603. Hamlet says "this in a graveyard as he looks at the skull of Yorick, a court jester he had known as a child, and grieves for him" which means a meditation on the fragility of life. []
