This is the first episode of the series to not feature a real murder, or, in fact, a crime of any kind. (edit)
This episode is filmed completely in the CSI lab, with only the Main Stars and Recurring Guest "Lab Rat" cast appearing. (edit)
Warrick asks Nick to go the "Strip" and play Blackjack and Pai Gow.
Pai Gow poker (or Double-hand poker) is an Americanized version of Pai Gow, in that it is played with playing cards using poker hand rankings, while Pai Gow is played with Chinese dominoes. (edit)

Quotes

add »
Wendy (during their 'murder' investagation): No, no. Captain Brass is not the kind of cop who smacks a suspect around.
Henry: Really? He scares me. (edit)
Wendy: Well, Bobby's a gun guy. Gun guys shoot people.
Mandy: Gun guys don't shoot people. People shoot people.
Hodges: Actually, bullets shoot people, shot from guns which are usually in the hands of gun guys. (edit)
Wendy: You said that the emergency release plunger was bent.
Hodges: Mm-hmm.
Wendy: Well, that thing is made of solid steel. How could Henry do that?
Mandy: Adrenaline kicks in when he finally realizes that he's dying. So, maybe in the moment of crisis, Henry has the strength of ten men. (beat) Ten small men. (laughs)
Hodges: "Maybe." That word always looks so good on a case report. (edit)
Archie: Why would Henry wanna kill me?
Wendy: We're not supposed to care about the why.
Archie: Whatever. (edit)
Hodges: Excuse me, we're--
Archie: Playing a murder game. I know, I get it. I wanna play.
Wendy: He says it's not a game.
Archie: Well, I wanna play anyway.
Hodges: No.
Archie: Why not?
Hodges: You're the dead guy.
Archie: Oh. Well, then I'd have a vested interest in the outcome then, wouldn't I? (edit)

Trivia

add »
In a scene, Hodges is eating "Lucky Chips", the same kind of potato chips he eats in "Lab Rats", the other full-labrat episode. (edit)
Greg erases the "1659" from the OSHA safety sign ("DAYS WITHOUT A LOST TIME ACCIDENT") and replaces it with "0".

"You Kill Me" aired 1659 days after "Play With Fire", in which Greg was seriously injured when part of the lab exploded. (edit)

In the first case, Archie picks up twice the same cocaine brick (cellophane and duct tape wrapped kilo of coke) from the suitcase (edit)
The game pieces on Hodges' board game are based on Mandy, Henry, Archie, Wendy and himself. With different names though. (edit)
Although Dr. Robbins holds Hodges' brain in his hands, Hodges' head is still intact. (edit)

Allusions

add »
Star Wars reference

Near the end of the show, Hodges refers to himself as a Padawan and to Grissom as a Jedi Master (edit)
Wendy: There was a motorcycle battery in the ventilation duct?
Henry: Wired to the ladder and the evidence box?
Hodges: Precisely. Devilishly clever wouldn't you say?
Henry: No.
Wendy: Well who's the killer Wile E. Coyote?

Wile E. Coyote (also known simply as "The Coyote") and the Road Runner are cartoon characters from a series of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. The Coyote tries to capture the Road Runner often using Rube Goldberg devices (exceedingly complex apparatuses that perform a very simple task in a very indirect and convoluted way). (edit)
"You Kill Me" is also a title of a 2007 movie starring Ben Kingsley and Tea Leoni. (edit)
Clue: Hodges' game is directly referred to as "Clue for Forensics Buffs". Clue is a similar real-life boardgame where players solve a murder with several possible outcomes. (edit)
Wendy: You are the dumbest smart guy I know.

This is almost a direct quote from I Robot, which Will Smith's character tells the woman Dr. Calvin, who is very intelligent but lacks people skills. (edit)

You Kill Me
"Exactly why I watch this series"
Hodges does a little "thought experiment", involving killing the lab techs and investigating their murders. Archie, Henry, Wendy and Hodges all die, and meanwhile after Sara's leaving, everyone tries to cheer up Grissom.
