Kevin and Tiffany spend lavishly on items that they do not need for the new salon and cut corners on several necessary repairs, they jeopardize their opening when the building inspector threatens to shut them down.
So then, Kevin and Tiffany fail to get more money from Tiffany's hair-care mogul father Jack, they are forced to work with each other and rally the staff to get the place ready for the grand opening.

Corbin Bernsen replaces David Garrison as Jack Sherwood. David Garrison played Jack in the "One On One" episode, "Splitting Hairs," that started "Cuts."

Two scenes that were featured in previews were rewritten. The first was Kevin's comment about the pipes. In the previews he stated the pipes sounded like Star Jones wedding night. The final version he said Whale Sex. The other featured Kevin having a different reaction after Tiffany suggest the city inspector meet him. The final version has Kevin sugest he meets the others not Kevin getting upset like in the previews.

UPN rejected the series for its fall lineup, however when Second Time Around proved to be a failure, UPN bought the series back.

Something that didn't make it over to the series was Walt's tattoos. He had them on One on One's second season. They disappeared on later seasons and this series.
