Cynthia Stevenson is a well known face in drama as well as comedy TV shows and movies. She began her carrier in amateur theater until an agent discovered her and she was casted for the comedy series "Off the wall". After this she guest-starred in sitcom classics such as "The Famous Teddy Z," "Newhart" and "Cheers".
In 1990 she had the leading role in the cable comedy "The talk show" a parody of talk shows in which she interviewed unknown celebrities in her living room. The show did not last long but Robert Altman saw her in this and cast her in his film, "The Player". After this, she went on to be a series regular in "Bob" and played Hope in "Hope & Gloria".
She had the leading role in "Oh Baby" and and a recurring role in the cult comedy "Dead Like Me". She also guest starred in shows such as "Ally McBeal", "The L world", "According to Jim" and "Monk".
Her film credits include "Home for the Holidays" directed by Jodie Foster, "Forget Paris" directed by Billy Crystal and the critic acclaimed "Happiness". She played Cody's mom in the two "Agent Cody Banks" movies and in the four "Air Bud" movies.
One of her last projects was filming a sitcom pilot for CBS called "You've Reached the Elliotts". Currently, she plays Celia Bachelor in "Men in Trees".
She is married to the producer/writer Tom Davies. They live in British Columbia and they have a nine-year-old son.
