Cliff: You know, whoever cuts this deal is going to be an instant legend in the oil business.
J.R.: As long as it's not Weststar and Carter McKay.
Bobby: Now, we're going to have to go right for the throat.
J.R.: My favorite spot. (edit) Cally: Well, now that I'm J.R.'s wife, I want to learn how to talk proper. Every time I open my mouth, I can just see folks making up their minds about me.
Miss Ellie: There's nothing wrong with who you are.
Cally: Well, I appreciate that, Miss Ellie, but I'm aiming to kick the hayseed out of my voice and shine up my manners. (edit) Sue Ellen: Obviously, he's a key role so I think we should see as many actors as possible.
Allison: I'll have a dozen of my best J.R.'s here tomorrow morning.
Sue Ellen: A dozen J.R.'s—what a nightmare. (edit)

While practicing her diction, Cally mentions to Clayton that he watched that movie he recommended, which included the line, "The rain in Spain follows mainly in the plain." This in reference to the 1956 Lerner and Loewe musical, My Fair Lady, which included the song, "The Rain in Spain."
(edit)
The episode title is an allusion to the song, April Showers, first introduced in the 1921 Broadway musical, Bombo, where it was performed by Al Jolson. In the episode, Tommy briefly sings some of the lyrics and also hums the song as he trashes April's apartment looking for money.
