While practicing her diction, Cally mentions to Clayton that he watched that movie he recommended, which included the line, "The rain in Spain follows mainly in the plain." This in reference to the 1956 Lerner and Loewe musical, My Fair Lady, which included the song, "The Rain in Spain." (edit)
The episode title is an allusion to the song, April Showers, first introduced in the 1921 Broadway musical, Bombo, where it was performed by Al Jolson. In the episode, Tommy briefly sings some of the lyrics and also hums the song as he trashes April's apartment looking for money. (edit)
