Dallas Reunion: Return to SouthforkEpisode Number: 360 Season Num: 14 First Aired: Sunday November 7, 2004 Prod Code: n/a |
Charlene Tilton hosts Patrick Duffy, Ken Kercheval, Linda Gray, Steve Kanaly, Victoria Principal, and Larry Hagman for reminiscences on the series, including outtakes, fan questions, and famous cliffhangers.
| Star: | Patrick Duffy (Himself/Bobby Ewing), Linda Gray (Herself/Sue Ellen Ewing), Larry Hagman (Himself/J.R. Ewing), Steve Kanaly (Himself/Ray Krebbs), Ken Kercheval (Himself/Cliff Barnes), Victoria Principal (Herself/Pam Ewing), Charlene Tilton (Herself/Lucy Ewing), Mary Crosby (Herself/Kristin Shepard) |
Sadly, actor Howard Keel, who played Clayton Farlow for 10 seasons, died on the day this special aired.
(edit)
Although the focus was mostly on the original cast members, many long running castmembers were not even shown in clips including Susan Howard (Donna), Jared Martin (Dusty), Debbie Renard (Sly), Morgan Brittany (Katherine), George Kennedy (McKay), just to name a few.
(edit)
Funny how when Steve and Charlene (who played Ray and Lucy) were reminiscing in the barn and were talking about their controversial leasion, they never mentioned the most bizarre part of it all-that a few seasons later Ray turned out to be Jock's son, making Ray's Lucy's uncle! In fact, Ray's true parentage was never mentioned during the whole special-which was sad because the scenes where he became a member of the family were an important part of the story. Did the producers cave in to pressure from CBS to keep it under wraps just because of the Lucy/incest situation?
(edit)
The show was originally supposed to start at 9 PM Eastern, but football overruns pushed the start back to 9:42 PM EST.
(edit)
When talking about the ten fan favorite episodes, three cliffhangers were never mentioned: They were Cliff's suicide attempt at the end of season 5 in 1982, Sue Ellen's movie expose of J.R. at the end of season 12 in 1989 and J.R.'s commitment to a sanitarium at the end of season 13 in 1990.
(edit)
Larry Hagman: With the 'Who Shot J.R.?' episode, the writers rose to the occassion.
Patrick Duffy: And so did your salary, by the way. (edit)
Patrick Duffy: And so did your salary, by the way. (edit)
Patrick Duffy revealed how his miraculous post-death (post-dream) return was kept secret. His "Good Morning" shower scene was filmed in a seperate studio and all film crew were told it was an Irish Spring soap commercial! The director even faked authenticity by having retake upon retake for soap reasons. Duffy said it took hours.
(edit)
Reminiscent to the infamous 9th season finale, Victoria Principal wakes up to tell Patrick Duffy of the renuion.
(edit)
When reminscing about late actor Jim Davis who played Jock, Patrick Duffy stated that if Jim were around at the reunion, he would talk about the Oil Baron's Ball. However, the annual Oil Baron's Ball episodes weren't filmed until the seasons after Jim's death so he wouldn't have known about them. In fact, the first Oil Baron's Ball that aired was where the Jock Ewing Memorial Scholarship was established.
(edit)
When the cast gave a question and answer session with the fans, Patrick Duffy did not answer any questions, even though he was seen on camera holding a card with a question on it.
(edit)
If you look closely, you'll see that stand-ins were used for the actors to drive the cars to the ranch and most likely a stand was used for Larry Hagman in the helicopter too, except when the helicopter landed. The actors probably got into the cars after they were parked to make it look like they had all just driven up to the ranch.
