DC Lateef is leading a cave rescue when a corpse wrapped in plastic is found in the water. Vanda Dewhurst contacts the detectives and claims that the body is that of Lynn Barron, her sister who went missing in 1985. Dalziel and Pascoe learn that Lynn disappeared when she was due at Barron's house to visit her children, Nerissa and Charlie. Dalziel and Pascoe review the suspects and begin to unravel the truth. Though the conditions are treacherous, Dalziel sends Lateef and a team to the caves to search for evidence. This turns out to be a bad decision as the searchers are overwhelmed by a torrent of water.
