By 12 years old, Damian acted in 5 Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. (edit) As a child, it was only a five minute walk to the Beatles recording studio from his home on Abbey Road, in England. (edit) Damian's favorite role when he acted at the Royal Shakespeare Company is Wittipol, in The Devil is an Ass. (edit) At Birmingham Rep, Damian played the role of Romeo in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Romeo and Juliet. (edit) In 2006, Damian hosted the documentary Bolvia For Sale. Damian Lewis: If it surprises people, then I'm delighted because in art - I've just likened my acting to art so I have to be very careful - you have to challenge. The big bugbear for an actor is typecasting, but I think I have managed to avoid that. (edit) Damian Lewis: I think Helen (wife) is the best actress of her generation, but I'm biased. She's got a very rare ability to play leading women as total character parts. (edit) Damian Lewis: Being a detective solving the crime each week for me is about as cool as it gets.
