In May, 2007, Rather received a honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Siena College in Loudonville, New York for his lifetime contributions to journalism. (edit) In 1953, he received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Sam Houston State University. (edit) He attended Love Elementary School, Hamilton Middle School, and Reagan High School. (edit) Dan recently left the CBS network after 44 years as an anchor and reporter. (edit) He has gotton into a bit of trouble. While anchoring the CBS Evening News he claimed papers that he obtained records of George W. Bush's shaky service in the Army including but not limited to several AWOL's. Later the records were confirmed false and he apoligised on television. (edit)
