The winner of the ninth season of Dancing With The Stars is announced. All of the eliminated celebrities return for one last spin across the floor.
The new cast of the tenth season of Dancing With The Stars is showcased. Eleven new stars and their Pro Dancer partners perform either the Viennese Waltz or the Cha Cha.
Dancing with the Stars is a unique series that pairs up celebrities with professional ballroom dance partners in an intense competition -- live -- in front of a studio audience and the nation. Each season has a select number of celebrity/professional dance pairs. The pairs are then judged by a… More panel of expert judges (Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman) as well as by the viewers at home. One team will be eliminated each week. The couples must maintain their focus, grace and composure while learning precise movements and maneuvering in extravagant costumes. Will they remain compatible during the course of the competition? Dancing with the Stars has broad appeal, offering viewers dazzling costumes, dancing, celebrity gossip, behind-the-scenes training and contemporary music performed by a live 15-piece band. The format has already been an international hit in several countries. Dancing with the Stars is the U.S. installment of the international smash hit series, Strictly Come Dancing.

I would like to see the dancers dance to real paso doble music, not "American Woman". People who see it are getting the wrong idea of what paso doble is and the type of music it is danced to. I'm disappointed in the judges' sense of latin music is. hide show
I am not satisfied with the show. I think the judges or whoever selects the music don't know what paso doble, salsa, cha-cha, ect. are. I wish the dance would be matched to the proper music. This way the dancers would dance better when they hear the real appropriate music for the dance they are performing. People who have never been south of the border, who have never heard salsa, for example, are getting the wrong idea of what it really is. I think this program is misrepresenting the type of dances they think they are dancing. And in doing so, I think the program is making the viewers more ignorant about what the real music is, where it comes from, and how it should really be danced. I'm not being critical of how the judging is being done. I'm being critical of the music not matching the dance.
FAVE SHOW OF ALL TIME!!! :) hide show
I don't even know what got me into this show in the first place, but I'm a huge fan, no, a huge addict of DWTS! I've been watching for almost 3 years since Season 3 and have watched every episode since!
Since Season 3 was my first, I didn't really feel that strongly about it. Though my fave was Mario, it wasn't a HUGE deal that he lost. But after that season, it became a big deal! Season 4, Apolo was my fave and I was screaming (like I do every season now) when he and Julianne (who became my fave pro at the time, now is just my fave female pro) won! Season 5, Jennie and Derek (definitely fave pro now), who SERIOUSLY should have made the finals since Sabrina and Mark (my second fave male pro) didn't. But I was happy that Helio won (only 'cause he was with Jules).
Season 6, of course Kristi and Mark! Greatest couple on the show EVER!!!
Season 7, of course Brooke and Derek! Second greatest EVER!!!
Season 8, for the very first time, I had not 1, or 2, but 3 equal faves: Lil' Kim, who REALLY should have at least gotten 4th, if not the finals; Melissa, who I initially wanted to win and was furious when she ended only in 3rd; and Shawn, who, while I finally chose Mel, I had also loved all season and was screaming and jumping up and down when she won (take that Gilles)!
And thanks to DWTS, I have also discovered BHB! :)
Too sexual this time... hide show
I think the show was another fun one! BUT I did appreciate that the judge, Len Goodman, commented that Julianne Hough and Chuck Wick's rumba was more on the too in-your-face sexual side, than the understated, classy side. My friend said it was more like a pole dance than a ballroom dance. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called it "raunchy", as if that's a compliment, but she's right, it was raunchy. And my problem is, if raunchy is now a great compliment in ballroom dancing or otherwise, then things are going downhill. Hopefully these incredibly talented dancers can continue to keep it entertaining in a classy and respectful way.
The best interactive reality show on television!! My Monday & Tuesday nights aren't the same between seasons. hide show
My wife has been watching DWTS since it premiered, but I didn't get in on the action until season 5. It didn't take long to select my favorite professionals (Maks, Cheryl, Edyta, Mark & Corky). Guessing the final 4 within the first 4 weeks has become a challenge between my wife & me. She has a 3-season advantage over me, but I've been getting better. We also try to guess what the judge's critiques & scores will be during the performance.
The friendship between Maks & Tom is interesting. Granted, I think it was started by Mel B., but Maks seems to keep Tom on his toes. You just never know when Maks (or one of his partners) is going to catch Tom off-guard. I find it humorous.
As for Len & Bruno, I think they need to add a little more space at the judge's table between them; especially in season 8. Bruno has gotten so excited lately that it looks like he's about to knock Len either off of his chair or into Carrie Anne.
