The story starts in front of Fentonworks but it soon changes to the outer space. The title of the story appears and later we see a satellite picking some rocks from the Saturn rings. If the big V printed on the satellite isn't a giveaway about who owns it, we see two holo-Maddies inside it discussing who's going to tell their boss that they've finally found Ectoranium, an anti-ghost substance. The boss, Vlad Plasmius, appears from a portal that appeared near the satellite and was located with help from the Infi-Map (which he stole again). Before Vlad learns about the Ectoranium, Danny, Sam and Tucker also cross that portal with the Specter Speeder. Danny and Vlad engage a battle that results in the explosion of the satellite, causing a huge asteroid to be thrown from its orbit. Danny and his friends recover the Infi-Map and Vlad uses a small ship from his satellite to get back to Earth. Vlad now thinks about getting rid of Danny Phantom for good. Back on Earth, Danny and his friends still have the Infi-Map when they notice Nicolai Technus terrorizing the town again. Danny fails to stop him but a new trio of teenage ghost hunters saves the day. Mayor Vlad Masters announces they are the Masters Blasters, ghost hunters supported by city funds to keep Amity Park safe. Danny tries countless times to prove who the better ghost fighter is, but ends being beaten (and in his underpants) while the blasters save the day. During a parade in honor of the Masters Blasters Danny tried to prove his worth by blasting a huge ghost, which turned out to be merely a parade balloon. Back at Fentonworks Jack and Maddie Fenton had dismantled the Fenton Portal so they could upgrade it (Jack wanted to download music faster). Jack says how anti-American was the destruction of the parade balloon (the destruction itself enraged Jack more than the fact that it almost killed Sam and Tucker). Jack admires the Masters Blasters and loves the autographed poster he got from them. (The autograph says "To the old man in the orange suit stop bothering us"). The Masters Blasters show up at Fentonworks to arrest Danny's parents for sheltering a ghost. That was all that was still needed to make Danny get into the new Ghost Portal hoping to have his powers erased so his parents would be freed. He is successful; his powers are powers are removed, leaving only a white streak of hair. In the process, the Fenton Portal is destroyed. It is proved that Danny is no longer half ghost when the Blasters' scanners don't pick up any ecto readings around him. Though Danny is glad to be rid of the responsibility of fighting ghosts, Sam, Jazz, and Tucker miss the excitement of ghost fighting. Danny enjoys being on the sidelines for a while, until Sam gets on him, saying that he gave up something not many people had- a chance to make a difference in the world. Danny soon begins to regret the choice he made. When the Lunch Lady ghost attacks the school, Danny tries to help, but without his powers, gets in the way and ends up being saved by the Blasters. Meanwhile, Jack is mourning the destruction of the Fenton Portal, blaming himself for wanting to download music faster. It's announced on TV that a huge asteroid, named "Disasteroid", is one week away from hitting Earth and destroying it completely. All the combined efforts of the nations' governments fail so Jack Fenton and the Masters Blasters launch themselves at the outer space on a rocket built by Jack and founded by Vlad. At first it seems the destroyed the Disasteroid but Jack hit the wrong asteroid. Vlad "accidentally" sent Jack the wrong coordinates. When the media informs the Disasteroid comes from Saturn Danny figures that it's the same asteroid from the beginning of the episode. Later on, Vlad calls a press conference to announce another plan to save Earth. Vlad Masters reveals himself as Vlad Plasmius, causing the Masters Blasters to try to capture him but Vlad and two of his duplicates stop them. Vlad announces his plan: using his ghost powers to turn the Disasteroid intangible so it will simply phase through Earth without harm. In return all the nation of earth must give him 500 billion dollars and world supremacy. They agree and Vlad and Jack embark the Fenton Rocket again where they discuss the recent revelations. Vlad tells Jack his role on the ghost powers and how he wants to kill Jack and turn Maddie into his queen. Upon reaching the Disasteroid Vlad tries to turn the Disasteroid intangible but fails. Vlad is told by a holo-Maddie that the Disasteroid is fully made of Ectoranium, meaning neither Vlad or any other ghost will be able to turn it intangible. The Earth is doomed and even if it wasn't Vlad wouldn't be able to resume his life now that everyone knows his secret. Jack is so disappointed at his old friend that he ditches Vlad in outer space. Danny soon comes up with a new plan. With the Infi-Map still in his possession, he travels into the Ghost Zone with Tucker, Sam and Jazz. There, they try to get help from the ghosts to save Earth since its destruction will also damage the Ghost Zone. The ghosts refuse to listen and attack Danny. Their ecto-blasts affect the white streak in Danny's hair and restore his ghost powers. Using his restored powers, Danny sends the ghosts away long enough for him and his friends to escape. Back on Earth, Danny calls another press conference to tell his plan. Instead of turning the asteroid intangible, they will turn the earth intangible. Tucker presents a slide show explaining the plan. With the aid of a giant transfer tower and enough ghosts from the Ghost Zone, they can make the entire planet intangible so the Disasteroid will pass harmlessly through. Everyone is on board with this plan. Tucker leads the construction of the tower while Jack and Maddie spread the transfer cables around the earth. Jazz disguises Robo-Tucker from "Livin' Large" to look like Danny Fenton to cover his secret. Before Danny leaves to round up the ghosts, Sam gives him back the ring from "Flirting With Disaster", knowing that if he promises to bring it back, she'll see him again. In that instant, Danny and Sam share their first kiss. Danny then departs for the Ghost Zone in the Fenton Jet. Armed with a giant net, Danny gathers enough ghosts for the device. However, before he reaches the portal, Skulker blasts the net free and shoots Danny's engines, causing him to eject. Danny is now surrounded by all of his enemies. As they gang up on him, he tries to convince them to help, not just to save earth, but the Ghost Zone as well. Back on earth, everyone's hopes die when Danny's empty jet returns from the ghost zone and crashes into a mountain. Sam most of all is devastated by the appearance of Danny's death. The Disasteroid enters earth's atmosphere. Jack and Maddie soon discover who they think is Danny is really a robot, and they question Jazz where Danny is. When Jazz looks out at the site where the jet crashed, Jack and Maddie finally realize the truth. Suddenly, Danny comes out of the ghost zone leading a million ghosts. The ghosts gather around the transfer device and on Tucker's signal, Danny and the ghosts go intangible. Just as the Disasteroid is about to hit the earth, the transfer device sends the intangibility across the planet, causing it to go through harmlessly. With the threat over, Danny thanks his ghostly enemies. Before returning to the ghost zone, Skulker says that nothing has changed between them, only now he considers Danny a bigger prize for saving the planet. Jazz convinces Danny to reveal himself to his parents and the world. Everyone accepts the true identity of their savior. Back in Amity Park, the new mayor (Tucker) unveils a statue of Danny, saying an exact replica is placed in every major city to honor the ghost boy who saved them all. On a hill away from the ceremony, Danny and Sam have a moment. Now that Danny's secret is out, his life is going through big changes (Jack wants Danny to be his sidekick). Sam believes that Danny will be so busy, she won't see Danny as much. Danny says differently as he puts the class ring on Sam's finger, saying that he couldn't have done anything without her and that he wants her there by his side for whatever comes next. Out in space, Vlad is on an asteroid, trying to get use to the life of a space nomad, when he gets slammed by the Disasteroid. Back on earth, Danny offers Sam a ride to see where their future leads, Sam accepts. As they fly away, Sam notices the statue of Danny and mentions how she would have built it with recycled material.
