He was in a Guitar Hero commercial, which premiered during the American Idol 2008 finale on May 21, 2008. (edit) David was crowned the "American Idol" of Season 7 on May 21, 2008. (edit) David wore an orange wristband for a little girl with leukemia that's a fan of his. (edit) If he could perform at any venue, he would do so at the Center in KC. (edit) The person he would most like to meet is Keira Knightley. (edit)

David: The most embarrassing thing that I've ever done on stage, I was in a high school production of West Side Story wherein I had to dance and as America will soon find out if they haven't already, I don't dance, I'm terrible at it and I'm sure somewhere, there is a VHS copy of that floating around that will probably make its way, which is kinda' nerve-wrecking I must say. (edit) David: The weirdest thing that I ever ate, I was at Church camp in Ohio I believe and everyday they would do these sermons that have themes and along with these sermons they had games for everybody to play and you could win cash if you won these games. I got entered into this contest where I had to chug a 20 ounce soda with a live widow and I was in a fight with around two other guys and I won, but I had to swallow a live widow. (edit) David: The most interesting job I've ever had was, and I have Mrs. Hayes to thank for this, I was a mascot for Old Country Buffet in Independence Missouri; I was a bee for about six months, I quit not long after I got beat up in a baseball tournament. (edit) David: My family has helped me pursue my dream, really in a number of anomies, you know immersing yourself into being a musician, the money's not always there. So financially my parents, my extended family, my friends have all been fantastic you know, it starts from my dad buying me my first Fender Starter Caster when I was 12 or 13 and buying me my Last Paul on my 21st birthday, to you know, my mom paying for gas to get me to gigs, it's pretty much across the board, my folks have certainly sacrificed, as well as pretty everybody in my circle. (edit) David: You know I'm pretty much an open book and I'm kinda' weird, so I don't know if people would be very surprised with anything about me. I'm pretty much what you see is what you get. (edit)
