Joey is forced at gunpoint to clean out her account by a street mugger, who is accidentally run over by a car just after mugging Joey. The merciful girl from Capeside stands by her aggressor, checking up on him and trying to get an ambulance and get him to the hospital after seeing the similarities between him and her own father. When the cops and paramedics arrive, Joey faints and is taken to the hospital. After recovering, she accidentally meets the mugger's estranged wife and daughter. Joey stands by her dying mugger as she tries to learn more about her own father. After his death, she makes a choice of sparing the guy's little daughter's feelings by telling her he jumped in front of the car to save her life. Add a recap »

- Goof: When Joey regains consciousness in the ER, she is sitting upright instead of being laying down which would be more logical. edit »
- When the mugger dies, Joey switches from not crying to being openly crying with tears streaming down from both of her eyes way too fast to be realistic. edit »
- While Joey is talking to the mugger in the hospital room, her hair changes constantly between shots from being tucked behind her ears to hanging in front of them. edit »
- Goof: The length of the mugger's cigarette and its level of ash change constantly between shots. edit »
- Goof: When Joey is talking to the mugger in the hospital room, in every shot that she either sits down or gets up from the chair, she is far from the bed, whereas when she remains seated she appears to be much closer. edit »
- Spanish title: Intersección, meaning Intersection. edit »
- Dawson's Creek was shot like a motion picture using a single camera and often filmed on location, rather than being largely studio bound. While most of the episodes were conventional, there were two episodes exploring a story from differing perspectives:
4x08 The Unusual Suspects was filmed as a film noir detective story, with camera work and music appropriate to the genre.
5x15 Downtown Crossing featured only one regular, Joey, and her interaction with a mugger. edit » - Music featured in the episode included:
Walking by Jonatha Brooke
Close To You by Mary Beth Maziarz edit » - The beginning of this episode picks up where the previous episode (Guerilla Filmaking) finished, creating a pseudo two part episode. edit »
- Mercedes McNab is another in a line of actors who have appeared on Joss Whedon's series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and/or Angel.
Others include Jason Behr, Bianca Lawson and Christian Kane. edit »
- Sammy: Did my daddy do something bad to you?
Joey: No. He did something really nice for me.
Sammy: He did?
Joey: Yeah. I was crossing the street, and I wasn't paying any attention, and there was this car coming, and it was gonna hit me, but then your daddy came out and pushed me out of the way. He saved my life tonight.
Sammy: (Turns to her crying mother) Did you hear that, mama? Daddy's a hero.
(Grace kneels down and hugs her daughter)
Grace: (Mouths silently) Thank you.
(Before leaving, Joey slips in Grace's coat the money that her husband tried to steal from her earlier and the she exits the hospital) edit » - Mugger: You were singing a song just before...
Joey: "You walked into my life".
Mugger: Yeah.
Joey: Oh, that's just a... song my dad used to sing to me. edit » - Joey: My tenth birthday, my father takes me to the park, and if you knew Mike Potter, you'd know that was a pretty big deal. I mean, he never really had time for stuff like that... but he took me, and we played for hours... jungle gym, swings, everything... and I was so happy. He was so popular with the people, and... everyone seemed to know him, and... I was so proud to be his daughter. I mean, he was, like, the Mayor or something. It wasn't until years later that I realized he was dealing drugs to them.
Mugger: Heartwarming story. What's your point?
Joey: My point is... my dad did a lot of crappy stuff. I mean, this is the guy who cheated on my mom with a cocktail waitress while she was dying of cancer. He let me and my sister down time and time again, so many times and in so many ways, it became funny. But you know what? That day at the park... it still goes down in the books as my favorite day ever. edit » - Joey: It looks like you're gonna die alone. How does that feel?
Mugger: Big deal. Everybody dies alone. edit » - (Speaking about Sammy, the mugger's daughter)
Joey: Let me ask you a question. She comes to you in 15 years and asks you why you couldn't get over yourself for her, and what do you say?
Mugger: Grow up. Get on with your life. Don't blame me. edit »
- Joey: I guess you're right. Even Hitler had a girlfriend. Mugger: Exactly. Eva Braun, and she was one smitten kitten.
Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was an Austrian-born German politician who led the Nazi Party.
Eva Anna Paula Braun (1912–1945) was the longtime companion of Adolf Hitler and briefly his wife. edit » - Mugger: Oh, you so want to punch me in the face right now, don't you? I mean, I understand, I really do, but I got bills to pay. Sorry if that's slightly more important to me than you buying yourself a new pair of Manolo Blahniks.
Manolo Blahnik (1942-) is a Spanish fashion designer and founder of the self-named, high-end shoe label. edit »
