Matsuda: Then who's going to take on that role? If you mess up you'll die!
(Everybody stares at Matsuda)
Mr. Yagami: So it's Matsuda.
Light and L: It has to be Matsuda.
Misa: Matsu-
Light: I see. Higuchi thinks that Matsuda has been eavesdropping. And if Matsuda was supposed to have died and yet he suddenly appears again, then he will believe it.
Matsuda: M-Me?! (edit)
L: Let's look at it this way. Yagami Light was Kira. And now he no longer is. Was this by Yagami Light's own decision, or did another entity pass on the power to somebody else? Which is it?
(Light closes his eyes and thinks for a while)
Light: If that's the case, then it's Yagami Light's decision!
(edit)
L: Yagami-kun... I'm sorry to return the topic to this but... I'm going to ask you frankly...
Light: What is it?
L: Do you remember killing them?
Light: Are you still saying that... I'm not Kira. How many times do I have to tell you...
L: Please answer the question. Do you remember?
Light: I don't remember... (edit)
(yelling at the Yoshida Productions President for not remembering Matsuda's actual name)
Higuchi: Don't screw with me! Why the hell can't you remember the names of the people you hire?! (edit)
Light: This is going exactly as I planned. It's almost scary.
L: You shouldn't be scared, Light. You should be happy. (edit)

Trivia

add »
Altered Scene: Watari's Sweets

In the Task Force building, the anime has Watari constantly coming into the room to deliver to L a vast variety of sweets. This was probably added to have L actively doing something while delivering his long lines of speech. (edit)
Altered Scene: Mido, Shimura and Namikawa

The meeting between Yotsuba members Mido, Shimura and Namikawa is slightly longer in the manga. Shimura brings up how their boss, the company president, is in charge of their money and salary increases, to which the other two reply that he was most likely acting out of Kira threatening him. They further mention how nervous their boss sounded when he initially called the eight of them to their first Kira-related meeting, remembering a slight tremble in his voice that day.

Before the scene cuts to Higuchi, the manga also has the three discuss how Kira being a Yotsuba employee will be "a public relations nightmare." However, Namikawa reminds the other two that it is during the hardest of times in working for the company and society in general that the true purpose of being a Yotsuba employee shows. (edit)
Look Closely: When L's monitor shows Wedy's name, it is spelled "Weddy," contrary to the romanized name translation Viz decided to use. (edit)
