Tom: You're doomed.
Lee: Excuse me?
Tom: The way you just caved on that sculpture thing-you're setting the tone for your entire marriage.
Lee: I am?
Tom: Yeah, you gotta dig in your heels. Otherwise, you're going to be pushed around for-let's see how long have I been married-ten and a half years. (edit) (Five years later)
Susan: (to her new love interest) Honey, I'm home. Did you miss me?
Ken: You know I did. (edit) Bob: We're sticking with the cherub and later, when he bitches about it, I'll just buy him some jewelry.
Lynette: You sure you haven't been married before? (edit) Mary Alice: (first poker voiceover) There's a ritual my friends have observed for years. Once a week, they meet to play a game of cards and talk about their lives. There's always laughter and wine and talk about the neighbors. (second poker voiceover five years later) There's a ritual my friends have observed for years. Once a week, they meet to play a game of cards and talk about their lives. Of course, there's another aspect to these gatherings that has nothing to do with gossip or poker. Every seven days, my friends are reminded of a basic human truth. There is nothing more important than friendships that endure, especially in a world that insists on changing. (edit) Mary Alice: (voiceover) It had been 14 years since Katherine Mayfair had been in a police station but she remembered the conversation like it was yesterday. (scene of Katherine reporting the abuse of her policeman husband and being advised to run) And so she did to a place she thought would be safe. (scene of her returning to Wisteria Lane to live with her mother) Katherine Mayfair had been running from the truth for a long time and it had finally caught up with her. (edit)

Some events of this episode are very similar to the events of the season 1 finale One Wonderful Day; a hostage situation occurs, at the Sims house no less, and then someone comes over and knocks on the door. Only then Edie leaves at the end, whereas in this episode Bree is taken into the house.
(edit)
This marks the second time Bree is held at gun point. The first was in the season 2 finale Remember, by Matthew Applewhite. This is also the third time that her life is threatened. In The Little Things You Do Together, Gloria Hodge almost slit her wrist with a knife before Orson came and rescued her.

In episode 2x13, the famous fighting scene between Gabby and Sister Mary (the nun) occurs, with an interesting music featured in the background, which was made especially for that scene. In this episode, Gabby is shown in yet another fight scene, with the same music featured, only this time it was with Ellie over the bag of money.

GOOF: In the episode 4-11, Susan's cousin Tim told her that he went to Katherine's house at the moment when Katherine hit Wayne with the candle holder. But the accident happened in a room with a big window. How could that be, as we saw that Tim walking on the front lawn. They could have seen him walking up the steps!
Explanation: They were too involved in their own fight to be looking at the window or paying attention. (edit)

Katherine's storyline could be considered a reference to a film titled "Enough" starring Jennifer Lopez.
Slim Hiller (Lopez) finds herself married to an abusive man with amazing connections with the police which makes him impossible to stop. She has no choice but to constantly run away from him. Finally, she gets the courage to confront him until she kills him as if it's the only way to stop him. She was cleared after it was determined that it was self-defense. (edit) The episode title comes from a song of the same title in the 1962 Stephen Sondheim musical A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. (edit)
