When Betty and Matthew Applewhite take the food into the basement at the end of the episode, the hand that reaches out for the food is light brown. When Caleb appears later on in the series, he is black. edit »

Despite the title of the show being "Desperate Housewives", this episode established that none of the characters are (strictly speaking) housewives at this point. Susan, Edie, and Betty are all divorcees, Bree is a widow and Gaby isn't really a true housewife while Carlos is in prison. Lynette will also be working in an office this season, thus nullifying the label of "housewife". Even Karen McCluskey has been established to be a widow. In fact, (with the exception of Gaby) this pattern will more or less be held for the whole season, making the title a misnomer for Season Two. edit »
Goof: When Bree and Rex's mother are talking about the funeral, the door behind the Reverend changes from open to closed between shots. edit »

What happened over the summer? Hopefully Desperate Housewives will be much better than this, as this episode was a sad, sad way to begin a season. Bree's storyline was terribly written. ...Continue »
