When Kelly and Chuck go into therapy to deal with Kelly's apprehension about telling Gracie that Chuck is her father, the situation becomes more complicated when their therapist brings out the worst in them. Meanwhile, Gary feels snubbed by the security guard who gives everyone a hug but him.
In 1984, Diahann joined the cast of a primetime soap opera Dynasty, and stayed with the show until 1987. She planned to return on the show during it's 10th season (1989), but the show was canceled after season 9.

In 1998, Diahann won a Lucy Award, and one year later, she won a Crystal Award.

Diahann was nominated 3 times for an Emmy award. She received the first nomination in 1963 for guest starring on TV series Naked City. The second nomination came in 1969, this time for a leading role in a comedy series named Julia. She received the third nomination in 1989 for guest starring in 2 episodes of A Different World, a popular comedy show.
(edit)
Diahann (About being recognized from Dynasty): You know I figure young people would say, "Oh yes, that's right-Dynasty!" How one came upon Dynasty in the eighties is really more of a highlight than being on Dynasty.
(edit)
Diahann: I considered Nat King Cole to be a friend and, in many ways, a mentor. He always had words of profound advice.
(edit)
Diahann (on filming Hurry Sundown in St. Francisville, Louisiana; where the cast and the crew was receiving death threats because they were filming the movie in the home of the Ku Klux Klan): You can cut the hostility here with a knife. I'm not a fighter. I usually smile and then go into my room and cry my eyes out. But down here, the terror has killed my taste for going anywhere.
