Walt Disney appears, to introduce the episode.
Winston Hibler talks about the planning of the Secrets of Life. He shows special cameras and trucks used for The African Lion, The Vanishing Prairie, Water Birds and other True Life Adventures. Then he showed the various parts of the Secrets of Life.
We are then introduced to the various people that contributed to the different parts of the film.
Next we are introduced the to how Disney technicians took an ordinary 16mm camera and adapted it to photograph the tiny insects. And also how they solved the issue of lighting.
This camera and strobe light were taken to the entomoligists, the Crandalls. We are shown how they filmed the ant portion of the film (at their home and in the wild.)
Next we see Southern California's Grunion run. George and Nettie McGinnity film the birth of the grunion.
Dr. Tildon W. Roberts films the Diving Spider and other lake inhabitants.
Merl and Mildred Duesing film in a pond utilizing a special water proof casing.
For Stewart Jewell, it is not a specialized camera but a protective suit to film the bumble bees. Also it shows how they located the honey bee's hive.
The final section is about John Ott's time lapse photography of flowers and other plants.
This special has material not used in the film.
