Do As Infinity: Biography

Do As Infinity first made their debut on September 29, 1999 with their hit single "Tangerine Dream." The band members included Dai Nagao (composer and guitar), Tomiko Van (vocals) and Ryo Owatari (guitar). Their work has been impressive so far. By the time they had released their first album "BREAK OF DAWN", they were already a well-known band. As of 2001 Dai Nagao stopped playing an active role in the band, such as performing and showing up in promotion videos, and has instead continued to work only behind the scenes, though still an official member of the band.



The band announced their break up on September 29, 2005, just 6 years after their debut. They have since went their seperate ways and are focusing on solo careers and working with other artists.
  • In 2000, Do As Infinity performed the theme of the live action movie Uzumaki entitled "Raven".(edit)
  • Do As Infinity took a trip to Taiwan where the cover of their single "Rumble Fish" was taken. This trip also became the inspiration of one of their most popular songs, "Shinjitsu no Uta", which was released about two years after it was first written.(edit)
  • During the Korea & Japan Friendship Week in JEJU in 2004, Do As Infinity performed in Korea along with JTL, a Korean hip hop group.(edit)
  • During the summer of 2004, Do As Infinity performed in both New York City, New York and Dallas, Texas. There is footage of these performances on their LIVE YEAR 2004 DVD.(edit)
  • Do As Infinity had a little known back-up band called the GREAT TOUR BAND. Two of the members of this band can be spotted in DAI's music video "Mahou no Kotoba".(edit)
  • In the 4th InuYasha movie, InuYasha the Movie: Fire on the Mystic Island, Tomiko Van played the voice of Akana. Do as Infinity also performed the ending theme "Rakuen-Paradise" in this movie.(edit)
  • The titles of the first 4 singles that Do As Infinity released were all names of famous rock bands. The first 4 singles were Tangerine Dream, Heart, Oasis, and Yesterday & Today.(edit)
