Do Over: Episode Trivia
Season:
- Adding to the goof about The Empire Strikes Back: Technically it is a goof and at the same time it's not. The first episode said he went back to 1981, but other episodes say he went back to 1980 so it might be presumed that starting from the second episode they switched from 1981 to 1980. It is also possible that the Empire Strikes Back goof may have been the reason they changed the years around.
- Everyone's going to see The Empire Strikes Back, which opened on May 21st 1980 - at least a full year *before* when the show is taking place.

- Goof: Just before Joel bats, he is talking to Pat about being humiliated in front of everyone. But when the camera pans across the bleachers, Pat can clearly be seen sitting next to Isabelle.
- The show's new opening titles suggest that Joel went from the year 2002 to 1980 despite the fact that the first episode said he went back to 1981. Even the previews for the show have been changed so that the coach says "It's 1980" instead of "It's 1981." Considering how far back in time they're going it makes the use of '80s music even more off.
- How could Pat have broken his wrist in the original past if Joel's grandpa wasn't there (since he broke it while helping Joel's grandpa get up from the seat)?

Cyndi Lauper: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Def Leppard: Rock of Ages
The Tubes: She's a Beauty - Smells Like Teen Spirit
This is a reference to the Nirvana song, Smells Like Teen Spirit. The song was written by Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic. The song was released in 1991. - Pat, Isabelle and Joel are in the Larsens living room trying to pick a show to watch on TV. Their options are: The Fall Guy, Dynasty and Quincy, but actually only Quincy was on on 1980. The first two shows both premiered on 1981. Like that was not enough, both The Fall Guy and Dynasty were ABC shows, hence they could never be against each other.
- There is a big inaccuracy in this episode (as there are many others in the show) regarding Def Leopard. First of all, Pyromania didn't get relased until 1983. And the big one, the Def Leppard shirt the kid was wearing had a picture of Vivian Campell on it who did not join the band until 1992 after the death of Steve Clark.

J. Geils Band: Centerfold
Joe Jackson: Is She Really Going Out With Him?
Straycats: Rock This Town
Foreigner: Waiting for a Girl Like You - More mistakes in the show's timeline: one person at the party was dressed as Indiana Jones, although his first film didn't come out until 1981. They also make a reference to The Smurfs, a cartoon that also didn't premiere until 1981.

- Joel enters the Star Search contest. But Star Search didn't become a TV show until 1983.

- Goof
At the end of the episode Adult Joel quotes a line from the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Adult Joel says, "Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while. You might miss it." The actual quote is "Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it."
