The episodes written by Layton and Lynn get better and better. This one uses a very classic comedy plot: twins being mistaken for one another. As a gimmick it's been around since Plautus; Shakespeare also used it successfully. Actors get the chance to portray different characters, an opportunity which Richard O'Sullivan takes here with both hands. His Lionel Bingham (perhaps not so) strangely reminded me of Robin Tripp in Man About The House. For once, George Layton has even given himself/Collier some good lines. (In previous Layton-Lynn episodes he was sometimes strangely subdued, as if Layton the writer didn't want to show favouritism to Layton the actor.)

The rhythm is perfect, the plot makes sense and the actors clearly enjoy themselves.
