Charmed had a great series finale - Friends had a sad but great finale nevertheless - and even though I know, many people will disagree with this, but I really liked Sopranos ending

No show has come close to the ending of Dawson's Creek yet. Jen's goodbye is one of the most poignent moment on TV

Scrubs had a fantastic finale until they decided to make season 9. Babylon 5 had a great ending, the whole of the five seasons were excellently planned out, something a lot of shows need to learn to do now-a-days.
The West Wing, Alias, 24 all good endings.

I'm surprised how many people think that shows that were abruptly cancelled had a good ending - like Dark Angel, Tru Calling, Caprica (which could have been a much worse ending I suppose). To me those shows just stopped being on the air.

Friends was also good, for me. It had just enough closure and just enough foreshadowing.

Six Feet Under...hands down. Also my favorite show of all time.

I thought Friends was very fitting and is one show that can get away with a somewhat textbook ending, also ending the final scene on a joke was perfect as was the simplicity yet genius of it.

LOST had adivisive ending but i fall firmly on the side of having enjoyed it, it gave purpose and meaning to all their experiences both on and off the island, whilst giving a passableexplanation as to what the island was and why they were all there. Going into it beingextremelyworried i waspleasantlysurprisedwith it, also the scenes where characters reconnected were very well done and showed key scenes to remind us of the character growth we had watched for 6 seasons, after allit was the characters that made LOST good, not the island.

    The Sopranos finale is just......mindblowing

But in my opinion the best finale is from the best show, my favourite The Wire. Fitting is not even a good enough term to describe the final scenes and montage during the end of the finale. It follows the same old main theme of The Wire, which is how it all cycles around and due to institutional failures that are passed down nothing changes. Some characters transition onto the next stage of their path, some being in better places, some in worse and some seemingly replacing others in their walks of life (ex. Dookie, Michael, Sidner and many more).

Truly the best finale owing to it being a fitting finish to the best show.

I don't think it's been mentioned but I felt The Shield had an excellent ending. In the end Mackey ends up losing everything he claimed to be fighting for and is in a purgatory of his own creation. I felt it was a really powerful way to end a story about a corrupt cop.

Agreed on The Wire. No other show has come close to that one for me. While I didn't want it to end, the ending could not have been more perfect. I rarely can watch something over and over again. The Wire was such an open, raw, show. The finale was outstanding. Brought tears to my eyes.

Agree with both. It was a brilliant way to close the series. You get to see what happens in the life of the character's in such a unique way! Just like every episode started with the last moments in someone's life and the way the died, the series let's us in on those precious final moments.
It's so beautifully presented, it killed me when I first watched it and the couple of times I watched it before. It's simply outstanding.
