Is this a different school? The one in previous episodes (and the opening credits) had the name "Smallville High School" in letters applied directly to the building all in one line near the roof rather than in two rows on a little sign above the door like we see in the opening scene of this episode. The original one also had mostly concrete around it where this one has grass and flowers. Finally, it had plain glass windows rather than windows decorated with grid muntins. edit »
When Sasha confronts Clark in his barn, she sends the bees after his mother, saying "you may be thick-skinned, but what about your mother?" Yet there is no indication whatsoever that Sasha knows he has thick skin, as the only time he mentions it is to Lana, joking saying "I must have thick skin" when she asks how he didn't get stung. Also, the method by which he killed the bees probably wasn't published, since he used coolant to freeze the bees. So, how did Sasha know? edit »
The shack blows sky-high but doesn't even singe Clark's clothes-- nor Sasha's clothes. (possible answer: I think they've established, or are trying to establish, that Clark's clothes (and someone close to him) gain some of his invulnerability (kinda like in the post-Crisis version). We've seen other episodes where Clark's clothes are unharmed (when he saves Whitney in "Metamorphosis") so at least they're consistent here... :) ) edit »
Doesn't Sasha have any parents? Her shack blows up, less than 50 feet from the house. And Clark just hauls her right off to the hospital or wherever surviving krypto-mutants get taken to. Even if Sasha's parents aren't there (and according to a later episode school in Smallville gets out after 4:30 in the afternoon - so where are they?), you'd think they'd wonder about Clark and his involvement, what happened to their girl, etc. Guess they couldn't afford two more actors this episode. edit »

The candidate Paul, in the scene at his home before the opening credits, is seen to be making a poster with his face on a "Superman" body. The slogan says "Paul will fight for you." This is probably in reference to the Smallville Crow, who also wears a "Superman" suit, but still, in this show, it's all about the "S" edit »

Ms. Castle: The way to kill Goliath is to find his Achilles' Heel.
Somewhat of a mixed metaphor. Goliath is obviously the biblical reference to David and Goliath. David slew Goliath, a giant of a man, with a sling stone to the head. Achilles was a Greek hero who, at birth, was dipped into the River Styx, thereby made invulnerable. However, to dip him in the water, his mother held him by the heel, and thus, Achilles was later killed by a poison arrow to the heel. This is also where the name "Achilles' tendon" comes from edit »
