Blasts From the Past

Episode Number: 219    Season Num: 9    First Aired: Wednesday May 3, 1989    Prod Code: n/a
Convinced that someone is trying to frame him for Chisolm's murder, Blake turns to Charles Matthews for answers to his father's mysterious past. Matthews tells Blake a dark secret that leaves Blake in a daze. Zorelli finds a bug in his apartment, which Dennis Grimes, and Captain Handler planted. Jeff finds out that Adam was responsible for the story that accused him and Monica of being involved in an incestuous affair. Jeff confronts Adam and a serious brawl ensues. Walking in on the fight, while Sable and Monica watch, helplessly, Alexis uses the moment to announce that Jason Colby is not Monica's father. Outraged by Alexis' betrayal, Sable hurls herself atop of Alexis, pummeling her wildly. Adam tells Alexis that the painting Grimes gave her is a Fredrick Stahl. Putting the connection together, Alexis realizes Blake is hiding a treasure plundered by the Nazis. Sammy Jo tells Tanner that she loves him, leaving him torn between his vows and his love for her. Sable tells Dex that he is the father of her baby. Dex insists that he help raise the child, but Sable refuses, choosing to do it alone. Sable turns to Blake for solace and confides in him that the reason she could never tell Monica the truth about her father was because Monica and Miles were born after she had been raped. Handler blackmails Blake, telling him to cooperate in giving him the treasure or face a prison sentence. Alexis meets Fallon at the cottage to help release the childhood memories locked inside of her. Fallon flashes back, remembering how she shot Grimes to stop him from beating Alexis.

Explanation of the above goof: As usual "Dynasty" played fast and loose with its history to suit current storyline needs. When Amanda arrived on the scene, Alexis explained that after her affair with Roger Grimes, she and Blake had a brief reconciliation, which produced Amanda. However, this was totally inconsistent with the Blake and Alexis's history up until then and during the final season. (edit)
This episode shows when Alexis was seeing Roger Grimes and she mentions that Blake has thrown her out. In earlier seasons, she claims that she was pregnant with daughter Amanda when Blake told her to leave. If she and Blake hadn't been having sex where did Amanda come from then? Could she have been Roger's daughter? Or maybe Alexis was telling the truth about the swiss ski instructor being Amanda's father. Maybe Alexis figured that another way of getting revenge upon Blake was letting him think that Amanda was his child and then she would get some of the Carrington fortune. (edit)
Captain Handler begins to set Blake up in this episode and he won't get cleared until the reunion in 1991. (edit)
It is revealed that Roger Grimes was going to leave Alexis and she pulled a gun on him. When he knocked the gun from her and began to beat her up, Fallon shot him. (edit)
Alexis is made aware of the hidden Nazi treasure. (edit)

"Nerve-wracking"
All of Dynasty is great, there are some episodes that stand out and this is one of them. One of the best in my own personal opinion.
