This was actually the 5th episode (counting the pilot as 1 episode and presuming the Gaal episodes aired in sequence) although it was shown in May 1995, well out of order. On the DVD set, it is also shown as the next to last episode although it clearly took place as about the 5th episode.

Another allusion in the title of this episode is to the term "Natural Born Citizen." It is a presidential qualification in the United States on Earth. It is presented in article II of the Constitution.

The title Natural Born Grendlers appears to be an allusion to the title of 1994 Oliver Stone movie Natural Born Killers.
