Elisa Donovan was born in Poughkeepsie, but grew up on Long Island, New York. She is one of three children born to Jack and Charlotte Donovan. Her father was the former vice-president of AT&T.
She developed a love for acting early on, she first started to study it at the age os twelve. Elisa went to high school at Northpoint, where she was a cheerleader. She went on to college at the New School for Social Resources in Manhattan where she studied Literature and acting, and studied at the Michael Chekhov Studio and with Anthony Aloesch, Larry Moss, Jeffrey Tambor, and Kim Gillingham, all to perfect her craft.
She did a lot of theatrical work before getting a role on the daytime soap opera Loving, and ended up on the hit NBC sitcom Blossom, playing Tanya, Joey's girlfriend in 1994.
She made her struggle with Anorexia a public one, when she gave People magazine an exclusive inside look at her eating disorder in 1993. At the height of her sickness, Elisa maintained a weight of 85lbs. She overcame her struggle in 1995, and speaks about it to help others.
Today you can find her healthy, and acting onstage and screen.
