New lady will give Kate a run for her money on season three of castaway drama.

The network announced the addition of another Lost cast member, this time a possible love interest for Jack Shephard, played by Matthew Fox. Elizabeth Mitchell will join the hit ABC series when it returns this October. In seasons one and two, Jack has had romantic tension with fellow castaway Kate, played by Evangeline Lilly.

Mitchell will play a character named Juliet, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mitchell has appeared in the series ER and will next be seen in the finale to the Tim Allen Santa Clause trilogy, Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.

Earlier this week, ABC added Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro to the cast. Santoro, who has been dubbed "the Brazilian Tom Cruise," will help the show get steamier, as executive producer Carlton Cuse has promised will happen.

Last season, the show added cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Watros, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The new players were a group of castaways from another part of the same plane that crashed on a separate part of the island.

This season, the new cast members could be part of The Others, a group who heretofore has menaced the castaways.

kates not good enough for jack she'll always have something for sawyer so it just won't work.juliet and jack are perfect for each other,she seems real sweet(and shes so not ugly)so lets hope she ends out being good.

i think the new girl will be a love interest from jack's past-- wasn't he in ?Thailand? wherever he got that tattoo. bet she's a bad girl, too, & Jack probably went to jail or something because of her. maybe that's part of why he likes kate. he like the bad gurl.

I say bring on Jack and this so called Julliet.
Kate uses Jack to get to sawyer, then she uses sawyer to get to jack.
When jack goes off, she'll realise all she has is sawyer...and she'll regret everything.
Jack can hook up with this new chic purley in spite of Kate.
...Jate shall finally rule when she gets killed off next season...

I think Kate will get so jealous, she'll as k Sawyer for a gun, then Sawyer will ask for a kiss, then Kate will try to kill the new girl. She'll succeed then Sawyer will get jealous and he'll join the Others to kidnap Jack and torture him. That's extremely unlikely, but it would be fun.

You guys realize the whole reasoning behind Sawyer wanting in Kate's pants is JUST to drive a wedge between her and Jack so HE can have Jack all to himself, right?
Just checkin'.
Maybe they're bringing in this new female as a supporting/recurring character, like Henry and Desmond and Bernard and Rose. That would make sense.
They lost Michael, Libby and Anna, and have filled that with Henry Desmond and Rodrigo's character.. adding a forth is one too much... unless she's the Shannon replacement. Which logically doesn't exist, because she can never be replaced.

I don't think that she will be an other. 48 people initially survived the crash (not including the talies), of which we have met only 15 (incl. Dr. Artz). There are still a lot of survivors that we haven't met. I believe that she may fall into this category, or more probably she was one of the survivors from the tail section that was kidnapped by the Others.

I think in the end Jack and Kate will get together. Something will happend bad with the new love intrest. She might die or she may end up being bad. You can tell that Kate and Jack love each other by the way they looked at each othere in the season 2 finale. Also Skate never is going to happend. Two reasons 1)Sawyer slept with Ana Lucia. 2) She said Sawyer reminds her of her father.

I believe the storyline need new charaters. You can't just mention the others, then be held captive in their camp, with the possiblity that you're gonna be there for quite good time, and not get to know them. I think it is predestined.
Besides, Romeo aka Jack was searching for his Juliet. XD
I just hope that Rodrigo won't be in Skate way, now that Jack is almost out.

Another character brought in to "spice things up". Right, who's idea was this again?

There's too many characters left without storylines at the moment (almost soap-like). Charlie and Claire were casualities of being taken to the side. Surely adding new characters are going to hurt the one's already pushed to support.

I'm not a huge fan of Lost, but even I see when the execs are trying desperately to change the complex formula in order to re-sell the new season.

I dont like the fact that they have new characters I mean with desmond and Henry coming in good, I bet this new character is going to be an "Other" but if they were gonna do that why not make Alex a Main castmember they allready have plenty of sub members

I don't mind the new characters as long as they possess some kind of value to the show. I'd rather the writers kill off the useless characters (charlie, claire, and sun just to name a few)who are a part of the main cast if the new ones are of more importance.

Personally, I think the show can go on with just Locke, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley as the main characters.

Is anyone else thinking theat there may have been survivors form the front of the plane. In the pilot Jack Kate and Charlie went in to the front and not all the seats were filled with bodies. What if some of the fronties live and had left the plane before Jack, Kate and Charlie got there, and they happend to leave in the opposite direction. Heck they could be in a differnt hatch on the island by now.

Yeah, I personally don't see a reason to add more characters, they killed off Libby and Ana Lucia (and Shannon) Michael and Walt are gone, then they fill that void with Henry Gale and Desmond.. and whoever Rodrigo Santoro is playing.. they don't need another body as a regular. Hell, they didn't need Rodrigo, either. Plus this is just gonna underdevelop characters they already have (Sun and Claire were pointless last season).
LOST is turning into a real sausagefest for season 3. They've killed off three chicks, and replaced them with dudes. Hopefully this'll be a great season.
I personally don't see this new character sticking around very long, maybe even getting killed midseason.
