The futon critic reports that ABC has pulled Emily's Reasons Why Not from next Monday's schedule. It doesn't look too good...

In the ABC press releases from (Jan 13/06) they're just changing the episodes around and re-aired the Bachelor - Paris. This was probably partly due in part to the Globes and trying to pull in some viewers for the Bachelor.

Uh-oh, more bad news. This one from the futon critic:

article wrote:
Various industry insiders have confirmed ABC and Sony Pictures Television have opted to halt production on the series following the taping of the sixth episode last week. The news all but spells the end for the freshman comedy.

So, only six episodes were filmed. I guess that's it. Will ABC even *air* them all, who knows.

I'm not surprised, i watched the first episode, and i thought it sucked, i watch a lot of shows, some not that amazing, but this was a new low.

A shame really, as i like Heather Graham, and not just for her looks.

Hardly. Fox typically announces shows and cancels them before airing a single episode on a regular basis. And one and outs happen nearly every year.

I think BEst Week Ever summed up the main reason it didn't work out...

"So you have a series about a girl who can't get a guy to commit, who's looking for love and not having any luck. Who do you cast? Oh yeah, the porn star from Boogie Nights!"

I think it's telling that ABC ordered the series BEFORE they read a single script. You'd think nowadays they'd be a bit more careful before commiting so much time and money making and promoting a series. Sheesh, even Fox at least reads what the show is like first! (of course, they then keep the dumb ones and cancel the smart ones)

Well the base of this show shouldn't of been the problem, yes it's not very original, but then again it doesn't have to be, it's a comedy, it's about entertaining people, not intellectually stimulate them, but the comedy was of poor quality, and the biggest problem of this was the writing and all, with comedies it's almost all about writing, i mean there are people who are commenting on the casts acting abilities, well just watch Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld must be the worst actor ever, actually he isn't worth being called a actor, but he's a comedian, a entertainer, just like Michael Richards (Cosmo Kramer), both can't act (although Richards is a whole lot better then Seinfeld), but they are great entertainers, and the show was written well, which made it a good show.

Heather Graham could have pulled this off if the writing and all was good, but unfortunaly it wasn't.

sorry but you are wrong

:
The death of "Emily's Reasons Why Not" was just one of several announcements ABC made during its session of the TCA Winter Press Tour on Saturday.

Pulled after just one airing, the Heather Graham-led comedy won't be returning to the Alphabet's schedule as previously indicated on February 6. In its place, the network will begin airing expanded two-hour, first-run installments of "The Bachelor" at 9:00/8:00c starting that night.

Production was halted on "Emily's" after six episodes, meaning five installments will sit on the shelf. Lead-out "Jake in Progress" however will continue shooting its 13-episode order despite its equally disastrous showing. No return date has been set for "Jake."

I know the show has been given awful reviews, but I wanted to see it anyway. Is there anyone out there who's got a copy I can view? I'm ready to pay for the media and postage.

Thanks

Hugh
