Ratings Data: This episode received a 9.5 rating/16 share in the fast nationals (overnight ratings), up over last week (8.8/14). With CBS running the first round of the NCAA Championship, ER was the highest rated show of the night. (edit)

Meningococcemia, the disease that the girls have, is the presence of Neisseria meningitidis (meningococcus) in the blood stream. It is demonstrated by blood culture.It's pretty dangerous. After completing its appearance in this episode the set took time off to make a cameo appearance as an 'El' station in this week's episode of The West Wing, in a scene featuring Alan Alda as Presidential candidate Arnold Vinnick.
