Peter Benton The show begins with Peter and Cleo asleep. The phone rings and Cleo answers it. She hands it to Peter who takes the call and then gets dressed. It's Kenisha, and she is in trouble. According to Peter, someone in the halfway house that she had been staying at had made advances to her. After arguing with Cleo, Peter goes to pick her up and Kenisha is with a group of boys who obviously know her. She jumps into Peter's car, and the boys chase after her, shooting out Peter's windshield in the process.
Peter brings her back to Cleo's home, and Kenisha takes a shower. She then comes on to Peter who ignores her advances. Later, Peter tries to hook Kenisha up with a social worker that would put her with a foster family. Kenisha runs away from the social worker.
At the end of the episode, Cleo and Peter come home to find that Kenisha has totally trashed the apartment. While helping to clean up, Peter tells Cleo that he loves her.
Carter When we first see Carter this episode Abby is asking him how it went with Weaver. Carter admits that he didn't tell her, but plans to after his evaluation. During his evaluation, Kerry tells Carter that everyone is pleased with the work he's been doing, and that they are very proud of him. Kerry asks if there is anything that Carter wants to discuss, Carter just opens his mouth and Abby comes in telling them about an incoming Trauma. Later when Carter is talking to Abby, explaining that he just didn't get the chance, Abby resigns as his sponsor. At the end of the episode Carter tells Kerry. She listens and tells him to keep going to meetings, while she thinks of what to do.
Elizabeth Corday
Morning finds that Elizabeth hasn't slept because she is being called in for a meeting regarding her suit. At the meeting, Elizabeth is told that the fault is with the equipment, and that the hospital has settled the suit. She is stunned, and upset that nothing more will be done for Mr. Patterson. But she accepts it. She is called to the ER, and rides down in the elevator with none other than Mr. Patterson. Elizabeth apologizes, but he doesn't accept it.
Later, in surgery, Elizabeth is too upset to think clearly when the surgery goes sour. She tells the attending nurse to get Romano, and then leaves. She finds Mark and they go home together.
Luka Kovich Luka helps a Bishop who has taken a fall. The Bishop, intrigued by Luka's accent, starts up a conversation with him. We find out that Luka was raised a Catholic, and was confirmed under the name Mikhail. Luka then works on the little girl from the trauma who doesn't make it. He later works on the drunk who hit them. Luka shoves a nasal tube down the man's throat without anesthesia, and does so without apology. When Luka returns to his bishop patient, he finds that the bishop is giving the drunk the Last Rites. As the Bishop prepares to leave, he asks what happened to the drunk. When Luka tells him that the man died, the Bishop is happy that the man found forgiveness in his final hours. Luka responds that the drunk didn't deserve it. The Bishop replies that everyone deserves it.
Kerry Weaver Kerry and Kim have been at odds since Kim declared that there could be no "just friends" between them. Kerry has been avoiding Kim, and they argue about many things. Kerry should have called for a psych consult and doesn't. Kim admits a patient over Kerry's objections. Later they meet at Doc Magoo's and Kerry admits that she misses Kim.
