The 2nd Eurovision Song Contest - Frankfurt, Germany

Episode Number: 2    Season Num: 1    First Aired: March 3, 1957    Prod Code: n/a
Although the results of the first Eurovision Song Contest are unknown, it is believed that Germany placed second, and were therefore granted with the hosting duties of the 1957 Contest. All seven countries from the first Contest were involved, along with three new countries - Denmark, Austria and the United Kingdom.
This tournament also saw the introduction of a rule that still stands today, that no song is to be over three minutes length, following the 5:09 Italian entry.
Each nation only sang the one song, and the full results were revealed, the songs having been judged by a panel of judges who could not vote for their home country.
The 1957 Contest was still primarily a radio contest, but it did have greater television coverage than the first contest.
