Notes

add »
Donnie, Steve Stevens, and Eileen Stevens only appear in one scene (when the Stevens show Jane their "all-American" feast), and Donnie doesn't even have any lines. (edit)
Tom leads the school's marching band in versions of "London Bridge," "America the Beautiful" and, when Lady Jane protests that she doesn't deserve all the "pomp and circumstance," the Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 by Sir Edward Elgar. (edit)
The "fishes" song that Beans dances around to uses the tune of "Locomotion," a #1 hit in 1962 for Little Eva. In 1974 another version hit the top of the charts, this one by the rock group Grand Funk Railroad. (edit)
In real life, there are several restaurants that offer to customers a giant burger like the King Sloppy, and some of them have the provision that it you eat it within a certain time period, you don't have to pay for it. One such mammoth burger is the Grand Tsunami, available at the Corral Drive-In in Long Beach, Washington. It's a monstrous 10 lb. burger with a 5 lb. patty! It costs $27, compared to the King Sloppy's price of $75. (edit)

Ren: (very worried) Oh no, Iīve lost Lady Jane!
Beans: I wouldnīt like to be in your shoes... (Beans tries Renīs shoes) They are so uncomfortable, how can you walk with this?
Ren: Beans, what are you doing? (edit)
Tex Nagita: Mike Heggeman, meet Mike Heggeman.
Louis: Mike Heggeman?
Twitty: Yeah.
Louis: My long-lost twin brother with the same exact name! (edit)
Twitty: (on radio) Yeah, Mike, how ya doin', did you finish your half?
Louis: (belches)
Twitty: I'll... take that as a yes. (edit)
Jane: (after a belch) Oh! Pardon me! Actually, don't pardon me! I'm having fun!
Duke of Bushwick: Well, if Jane's having fun, then, I'm having fun.
Principal Wexler: Well then! Should I order up a couple of those King Sloppies?
Duke: Of course not. (edit)
Louis: (to Luther) You know what I just realized? Um, that my bladder's only half-full--or, um, half-empty, depending on how you look at life. (edit)

Trivia

add »
The Duke of Bushwick has the same name as a character in After Hours, Barbara Bushwick, the woman who graduated from Lawrence Jr. High 75 years before. (edit)
When Ren makes her speech at the restaurant, she uses the word 'me' instead of 'I'. (edit)

Allusions

Beans: In the '20's it was the Charleston...After the Robot came the Worm.

Beans names three popular American dances while trying to keep the Duke and Wexler entertained. The Charleston was hugely popular during the "Roaring [19]20's." The Robot originated sometime in the 1970's and the Worm came along more recently. (edit)
Ren: ...I'm just finishing some crumpets and a spot of tea.

"Teatime" is one of England's most revered rituals. The proper hour for serving tea is at 4PM, and it is almost always accompanied by a light meal or snack, oftentimes crumpets, which are small, round, unsweetened breads, usually split and toasted before serving. (edit)
