Ray makes a startling discovery when he takes Debra to his 20th high school reunion. It turns out that Debra's one of them--the cool people who hated him and used to throw him into the girls' bathroom! Depressed about being unmasked as a "nerd," Ray tries to deal with their mixed marriage.

At the beginning of the episode, Ray says to Debra about her future 20th high-school reunion: "Four years away and you're already planning it." Assuming that Ray graduated from High School at age 18, he would be 38 in 1997 (20th high school reunion), and Debra would be four years younger, age 34. This would imply that Ray was born in about 1959, and Debra in about 1963. In fact, the actor Ray Romano was born in 1957 (12/21/57), and actress Patricia Heaton was born in 1958 (03/04/58). Thus, in real life, Ray is not even three months older than Patricia!

Debra: Ray's as cool as any guy with stick on tatoos and nose plugs!
(edit)
Ray: It was so the girl would look me.
Debra: Did she?
Ray: Not the way I had planned! (edit) Debra: Ray, can you go pick the kids up?
Ray: I just sat down!
Debra: What are you, 80? (edit) Warren: I remember you cried when you skipped a question on your SATs and all your answers were off by one.
Scott: That's not funny. I had to go to community college. (edit) Debra: No, I didn't rupture my booty...one time I did sprain my groove thing. (edit)

You can see Ray Romano's real-life wife, Anna, sitting at one of the tables at the reunion. Later she gets up and gives Ray her purse to watch.

This episode's lunch special is sausages with sauerkraut.
(edit)
The milk Ray spills on the kitchen table is there in one spot, then when Marie walks in with the shorts she bought for Ray the spilt milk has vanished.
