Ray and Debra are boxing up items for their church's charity drive. Among them is a baseball autographed by Mickey Mantle, which Ray holds dear and takes out of the pile. Ray's friend Andy stops by and when he sees the ball he questions if the autograph is real. This makes Ray question its realism too, so he goes and talks to Frank.

Ray finds out that Frank didn't really get Mickey Mantle to sign the ball and he's crushed. Ray vows never to lie to his kids about anything. Ally comes in and metions Santa Claus. Ray almost tells Ally that Santa doesn't exist, but Debra stops him. Ray says he doesn't believe anything unless he sees it from now on. Robert comes in dressed as Santa clause to entertain Ally. All of a sudden Frank comes in dressed as Santa too, ruining their acts.

Later, Ray confronts Frank about the baseball again. Frank said that he signed the ball because he knew how much Ray wanted it. Ray decides to keep the ball, despite the fact that it's fake. Ray then dresses up as Santa and goes into Ally's room. He thanks her for believing in him and tucks her in. As he leaves Ray hits his knee and stumbles out of the room.
