- Stark: (after the Dreadnought is destroyed) I have no prayer for that. edit »
- Aeryn: (sad) I'm very angry.
Crichton: Me too.
Aeryn: We had good times.
Crichton: I wouldn't change it for the world.
(Aeryn touches his cheek tenderly)
Crichton: You made me... a better person.
Aeryn: (smiling) That wasn't hard.
(Crichton smiles and offers a slight chuckle. Aeryn's smile falls)
Aeryn: I love you. So much.
Crichton: (turning to Aeryn) I love you.
Aeryn: I would've gone to Earth.
Crichton: I'm sorry you never got to meet my Dad. My real Dad. I'm... sorry I never met your Dad. I'm sorry about a lot of things.
Aeryn: Don't be. I don't want you to go that way.
Crichton: I won't. Ugh.
Aeryn: (concerned) What?
Crichton: (labored) They say... a lucky or unambitious man goes when he's ready. That said... Scorpius is gone, I'm at peace, I don't hurt. I... I did some good things.
(Aeryn nods)
Crichton: I'm proud of my life... when I'm with you.
(Aeryn smiles and begins to cry as she strokes his cheek. Then she moves in front of Crichton and kisses him tenderly at first and then more passionately and deeply)
Crichton: (content) Don't worry about me. I've never felt better. edit » - Crais: The... radiation sickness treatments from Talyn's emergency kits should...
Crichton: (labored) Relax. That was a big hit. Nothing to be done. And I hate long good-byes.
Crais: Your sacrifice... does not go unnoted, Commander.
Crichton: (labored) Crais... you... find the better part of yourself. You... have to take care of them.
Crais: I will. I, uh, hope you can believe that. Good-bye, Crichton.
(Crichton nods weakly and Crais departs)
Crichton: (labored) Hey, hey, hey... Sparky.
Rygel: They say... it's not good.
Crichton: Sparky, come here. My stuff... you can't have it.
(Crichton chuckles softly and Rygel laughs measuredly. Crichton coughs.)
Rygel: It will be hard not to think of you.
Crichton: I'm gonna miss you, Dominar.
(Rygel leaves. Crichton moans in pain)
Aeryn: Stark!
(Stark and Aeryn rush to Crichton's side)
Aeryn: (whispers) It's okay. edit » - Crichton: There's my flare. Mama Crichton's baby boy making wormholes. edit »
- Furlow: Don't be the hero John. Always be the one to walk away while the hero dies. That's my motto. edit »
- Crichton: Don't worry about me. I've never felt better.
"I've never felt better" were the last words of the famous Black & White movie star Douglas Fairbanks Sr. edit » - Title:
This episode, "Icarus Abides", and the previous episode, "Daedalus Demands" are loosely related to the mythology of Daedalus and Icarus. Daedalus was a great inventor, who eventually created his greatest invention only to be trapped in it (very similar to what happens to Furlow with the Wormhole). Icarus, who was the son of Daedalus, was also trapped with his father. The two titles are a slight jibe when you take into the dual meaning of abides. Daedalus was the father of Icarus, so if Daedalus demanded, his son Icarus would abide (comply). Abides also means to stay behind which is a reference to the fact that Daedalus created another invention to escape his prison but the invention killed Icarus by accident. edit »
