Moya arrives at a planet where the people test their genetic compatibility by kissing. Crichton kisses a princess, who is next in line for the throne, and discovers that his DNA is a perfect match for her. He must now marry her and they will rule together. This is against the wishes of her brother, who is second in line for the throne -- conspiring with a Scarran. Add a recap »

- This episode gives us our first look at a full Scarran, who looks slightly different to others seen in the future because he's modified his appearance to look more acceptable and less menacing as an emissary. Scarrans also have mind control abilities and beyond-human strength. edit »
- Scorpius apparently left something in Crichton, as John recalls a memory of Scorpius telling him that he left him "something to remember me by". edit »
- This colony is one of many "breakaway" colonies that severed ties with the Peacekeepers hundreds of years ago and spread themselves over the Uncharted Territories. It would appear that the Peacekeepers would like to regain control in these colonies, and the Scarrans are also interested in them for some strategic purposes. edit »
- Moya has apparently met her Gods – the builders. edit »
- Prince Clavor poisons Princess Katralla's DNA, essentially turning her into a human since Crichton's DNA is a match. If humans are poisonous to Sebacians, this would set a precedent against John and Aeryn later having a child. edit »
- Jonathan Hardy, voice of Rygel. Makes an on screen appearance as Kahaynu, Moya's builder. The Princess series is the only time we get to see what he looks like. edit »
- The royal servant, ro-NA is played by Ben Browder's wife, Francesca Buller, last seen in season one's "Bone to be Wild." edit »
- The "Look at the Princess" story was originally written by David Kemper as a two-parter, however after filming, there was about eighteen minutes of footage left over, all of which was considered good, and so the decision was made to expand the story, and in three weeks David Kemper wrote eleven extra scenes and threaded them in throughout the story. The bulk of the "new" scenes take place in Part 2: I Do, I Think, and it's because of this that Part 2 is out of sequence in terms of production number (Parts 1 and 3 were already assigned 10210 and 10211 respectively, and the late Part 2 was assigned 10221). edit »
- Crichton: Humans do not live as long as Sebacians, or Hynerians, or Delvians. When I get back, everyone, my dad, DK, my sisters, Cameron Diaz, Buffy the vampire slayer will be dead! edit »
- Empress Novia: (to Crichton, referring to Scorpius) My daughter, or that abomination. Choose! edit »
- Aeryn: (Upset and desperate) So you going to listen to D'Argo over me are you? Is that right?
Crichton: (Resigned) The Empress has made it clear. I marry her daughter or she hands me over to Scorpius.
Aeryn: Eighty cycles as a statue?
Crichton: (Forcefully) It's better than Scorpius!
(Aeryn looks startled at the force and content of Crichton's statement)
Aeryn: Is it?
Crichton: (Nervously, trying to voice his fear) He's in my head. Back of my mind. Corner of my eye. He scares me Aeryn, and I can't shake it.
Aeryn: (Stronger) I don't know what you're talking about but there's never been anything we couldn't overcome together.
(Crichton looks at her sadly)
Crichton: Except each other. (Crichton turns his head away from her, the fight gone out of him) edit » - Crichton: Aeryn, I want to talk.
Aeryn: (Annoyed) I want to talk less!
Crichton: We already tried that. It leads to kissing!
Aeryn: (Exasperated) Ohhh...
Crichton: (Quieter) That was a joke. It was to relieve the tension.
Aeryn: It's not funny. Just give me some space, John.
Crichton: (Frustrated) Fine, have the whole universe. edit » - Scarran: I don't belive I had the pleasure...
Aeryn: Yes, I heard that about Scarrans. edit »
- Title:
"A Kiss is but a Kiss" is a lyric taken from the song "As Time Goes By" by Herman Hupfeld. A song that was made famous when Sam played it again in Casablanca. edit »
