1. Eligibility: The "The Mr. Brooks Thumbprint Killer" Sweepstakes (the "Sweepstakes") is open to legal residents of one of the fifty (50) United States or District of Columbia, excluding Rhode Island, who are at least eighteen (18) years of age as of date of entry (and have your parent/legal guardian’s permission to enter should you be a minor in your state of residence). Employees and their immediate families (spouse, parent, sibling, child and respective spouses) and those living in the same households, whether or not related, of Sponsors, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to enter or win a prize. Void in Rhode Island, outside the U.S. and where prohibited. All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
2. HOW TO ENTER: Between 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time ("PT") on May 14, 2007 and 4:59 p.m. PT on June 1, 2007 (the "Entry Period"), you can enter by visiting http://www.tv.com/feature/mr_brooks/ (the "Web Site") and following the directions to complete and submit the online entry form. The Web Site’s database clock will be the official timekeeper for this Sweepstakes. You may also enter the sweepstakes by hand printing your name, postal address, e-mail address, and daytime phone number on a postcard or on a plain piece of 3x5 paper and mailing it in an envelope to: "The Mr. Brooks Thumbprint Killer" Sweepstakes, attn: Victoria Doyle, c/o CNET Networks, 235 Second Street, San Francisco, CA 94105. Online entries must be received by the end of the Entry Period. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by June 1, 2007 and received by June 7, 2007 to be eligible. Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address for the entire Entry Period regardless of entry method. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means are void and the participant is disqualified from this Sweepstakes. Entries submitted at the Web Site or through the mail must be made by the entrant. Entries made by any other individual or any entity, and/or originating at any other web site or e-mail address, including, without limitation, commercial sweepstakes subscription notification and/or entering service sites, will be declared invalid and disqualified for this Sweepstakes. No illegible, incomplete, forged, altered, software-generated or other automated multiple entries will be accepted. All entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be returned.
3. Drawings: Potential winners will be randomly selected on or about June 8, 2007 from among all eligible entries received for the entire Entry Period. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible entries received. All prizes legitimately claimed will be awarded. Drawings will be held under the supervision of Sponsors by Sponsors’ designated judges, whose decisions are final.
4. Winner Notification: Potential winners will be notified within approximately ten (10) business days following the random drawing by email, phone and/or mail (at Sponsors’ sole discretion) using the contact information provided at the time of entry. Potential winners may be required (in Sponsors’ sole discretion) to execute and return a completed W-9 and an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and, unless prohibited, publicity release (collectively, "Affidavit and General Release") within ten (10) days of attempted notification or prize may be forfeited. If winner is a resident of a state that deems winner to be a minor, the prize may be awarded in the name of winner’s parent/legal guardian, who must also sign a notarized Affidavit and General Release on the winner’s behalf and grant consent for the winner to accept the prize. In the event of noncompliance within this period or failure to otherwise comply with these Official Rules, or in the event that Sponsors are unable to contact any potential winner within a reasonable time period (as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion) or a prize notification, prize or Sweepstakes communication is rejected or returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and, at Sponsors’ discretion, awarded to an alternate winner. All federal, state and local taxes and any other costs and expenses associated with acceptance and use of a prize not specified herein as being awarded are the sole responsibility of the winners. Form 1099 tax statements will be filed with the IRS for the winner of any prize that has a value of or exceeding $600. General Conditions: By participating, each entrant (or their parent/legal guardian should they be a minor in their state of residence) agrees (i) to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsors and judges which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Sweepstakes; and (ii) to release, hold harmless and indemnify Sponsors, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, their advertising, public relations and promotion agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") for any liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind sustained in connection with participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance, possession, use, misuse or awarding of a prize or while preparing for and/or participating in any prize- or Sweepstakes-related activity, including, without limitation, any injury, damage, death, loss, or accident to person or property. Entrants further agree to not damage or cause interruption of the Sweepstakes and/or prevent others from using the Sweepstakes. Authorized account holder is deemed as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsors with proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the potentially winning entry. If a dispute cannot be resolved to Sponsors’ satisfaction, the entry will be deemed ineligible. If for any reason this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failures, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes. In the event the Sweepstakes is terminated, Sponsors reserve the right to conduct a random drawing to award the prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received for the applicable drawing up to time of such action.
