If you don't like Craig, then I have one question to ask. "I am sorry, how long have you been in al-qaeda?"

Craig was always going to win the award - in his pants! He and Geoff should go celebrate at one of the 1542 places Geoff has all around the world. Best show on late night easily - I mean it's not even close.

I know the Daily Show is great, and waaaaaay more informative, but I'm going with Tosh.0. Jon Stewart is great, and that's where I get most of my news (sad, actually), but I find Tosh's show a bit more entertaining. Don't we all love watching other people making idiots of themselves?

If Conan's in the running, why isn't Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? That's the show I'd rather be voting for in this weird category. Or Glee, because if late night talk shows are considered variety, instead of what they are: talk shows, then that would put Glee among the "variety" programs(?). (YIKES to an oddball mentality! Which has me asking this by the by: who in the world came up with this Top 2011 list? So far, voting, I'm disappointed to find that a lot of really great programs (Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, The Office, Pretty Little Liars, etc., etc.) have been snubbed. This TVdot selection to is just way too many "tinker toys".)

What isn't "Viva Variety" in this category?

    Dec 21, 2011
  • AlexandraBull1

This category remains contentious, could be anyone's game. Half of me says that the Daily Show continues to pump out great content and a real salient dialogue... yet Ferguson seems like an up and comer. And I almost wanna see Conan win because of how NBC treated him.

SNL clearly doesn't deserve it, though. It's all been downhill.

Re: Daily Show vs. Craig Ferguson in the VARIETY category. Daily Show: any Robots? Larry King as a Sidekick Robot? Doctor Who dance numbers? Cussing Rabbits? Moral Philosophers? Actually devoting a show to Black History Month? Sexy Crocodillios? Totally ad libbed email/tweetmail responses? Pajama gifts from Julie Andrews? MOST minority guests? Audience guests? Lesbian Row...with dudes? BEST original monologues? ...oh, charm, sex-appeal, wit, and an accent! Does that help you decide?

Last night's (Wed. 12/14) LLS with Craig and Geoff was AWSOME. That show alone should be nominated for an award.

I like the casual take Craig Ferguson has on his interviews. All the other shows are so scripted, and the way the other hosts do their interviews seem so forced, pretty much like an interrogation. Craig simply has more of a discussion with his guests. But I guess Jon Stewart will win. The target group of this site (young people) like Jon.

    GP & The Fergs!

  • RachelSlater

Craig Ferguson is one of the funniest people on TV. He's also by far the best late night talk show host, he's ten times better than Leno & Letterman combined!

How does Tosh have only 10% votes??? He's sooooooo funny.

LLS is unscripted except for the monologue. Besides if you every had a "fergasm" you would pick craig too.

I'm surprised Craig is winning. I love the show but I didn't know other people actually liked it too. Geoff is awesome and his accents sold me the first time I ever saw him. He usually has fantastic guests and I am never really bored when I'm watching an interview because he can make anything inappropriate or just plain funny. But I really thought America loved Stewart.

CraigyFerg over TDS? What is wrong with you people?

    • TheFred3733

RE: CraigyFerg over TDS? 1) I suspect you are one of us given the "CraigyFerg" reference! 2) Best Variety Show: CraigyFerg is the epidome of variety rather than "daily" scripted, semi-journalism. TDS: no Robot Skeletons, cussing rabbits, Dr. Who musical numbers (should win a prize of its own!), the love of geeks, lesbians, macho County stars, female stars of every age, size, and talent. The only show dedicating an episode to Black History Month. Shall I go on?

      Dec 12, 2011
    • KarMerCoy

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson offers a lot more variety and comedic surprises than some dude screaming this or that about politics. Yes, Jon Stewart is funny, but Ferguson is the best, hands down.

      Dec 12, 2011
  • MarkDark

Craig and Geoff ARE going to win this because they have the most loyal fan base and no matter what anyone says it IS the best show.... balls..

@XGalt, you clearly haven't seen Craig Ferguson if you called the show typical :)

    Dec 11, 2011
  • XGalt

Seriously The Soup is hilarious consistently. I've never seen the Craig Ferguson show, but I don't think typical late night talk shows could even touch The Soup.

Haha... wow, I have never seen anyone call Craig typical. Man, you're missing out on some good TV. Jay Leno is typical. Craig is on a whole different level.

BiniBeans, I agree that Jon Stewart is amazing, but Craig Ferguson has more heart in his one show than any whole network.

Craig Ferguson is funny but Jon Stewart is still the best. Why isn't The Colbert Report on here?

I said it a little earlier--the confusion is whether the host is funny (Craig is) or the Writing Staff is funny (Jon Stewart's is). In a one-on-one unscripted, Craig would win outright. Check out his email/twitter portion of the show; Craig is responding instantly to viewers' emails--absolutely remarkable wit! (Geoff ain't bad either).
