I like flashpoint but have only watched it once. I like this episode. It was a basic example of what cop shows often deal with. It was realistic. Many girls have to deal with horrid people like that gang of girls. Her mother was having nightmare issues I think which added to the young girl's stress. She had a really nice boss which would have helped too. I think that the shoppers acting in this episode could have been better because normally, people would have panicked and would have to deal with scared, confused children, especially when they were told to lie down and put their hands over their heads. i have younger siblings which may have been difficult to keep calm. Over all I give this episode a B. Pretty Good.
Nothing special. Series still lacks an identity. hide show
I thought this episode was average. Nothing really exciting happened during this episode. The show still lacks an element to make it different or unique from the other half dozen crime shows on CBS. The girl who is being bullied by the other girls seems to know the mall better than the people who are in charge of the security. Also thought it was strange when the SWAT people find her heading to the top of the building that they don't report in right away that they had spotted her to the leader of the SWAT. The other problem was that she is rescued and treated like she is a victim right away. In real life, they would have handcuffed her and treated her as a suspect for a short time until they could verify her story and make sure they have all the facts straight about the situation.
A much better episode, a little shocking but the best one so far this season. hide show
This weeks episode evolves around a young girl Tasha, grade A student, a caring girl looking after her mother and doing a part-time job in a local mall, the problem is Tasha is a marked person, she is being hounded and harassed by a group of gang girls, the leader of the girls is gunning for Tasha after she squealed to the police after her boyfriend tried to sexually assault her.
Tasha is confronted by the girls in the mall's toilets and they beat her and cut her hair but things get worse when one pulls a gun, Tasha manages to grab it and shoot wildly injuring one girl and thinking she has killed another runs.
The SRU team are called in to find out what really went on, Jules is the savour of the day when she talks down Tasha from jumping from the top of the mall.
I have to admit this was a shocking episode but one of the best so far, we are always ready about the amount of girl gangs becoming more prominent than male gangs so the writers have come up with an up to date storyline.
This episode reminds me of Cold Case because Cold Case is so good at making the victims/criminals of the episode well developed and make it seem like the viewer is always rooting for the guest character. Anyways, in this episode members of a teen gang come after another teen for revenge. The other teen, Tasha, shoots one of the others in self defense. I really liked her character. She still had hope through all of the crap she had been through. The story didn't seem too difficult on the police area, but it was interesting seeing Jules as a major player. She was a great negotiator. Overall, great story with great character development.
When there is a shootout in a mall involving girls in a notorious gang, the team is called in to apprehend them while ensuring the safety of the people in the mall. hide show
A teenage girl who was the victim of a rape by a gang member is victimized by female members of the gang. While she tries to get away, she manages to get a hold of one of their guns and shoots one of them. The team has to figure out who are the shooters and how to resolve the situation without any of the civilians getting injured. They discover from one of the girls who got shot that there is some sort of gang involvement, but they find out that one of the teenagers isn't what they expected her to be.
I really enjoyed this episode. In addition to highlighting Jules and showing her to be more than just one of the guys, I liked the complexity of Tasha's character - the teenage gang victim. This episode featured what happens to kids who live in the crime ridden areas of the city, who have to deal with gangs, and a difficult home life, who struggle to keep themselves on the right path against all odds. She was doing the best that she could when she crossed the wrong people and got stuck in a mall running for her life. As for Jules, she showed that she could do more than just wield a gun. She was the one who figured out that Tasha was a victim in all this, she saved Tasha and she was strong enough to drag Parker across the floor. She also showed a softer side when she connected to a young girl who thought that she had nothing to live for. The chemistry between her and Sam seems to be building as well.
Aside from a couple of casting issues (two of the gang members looked a little mature to be teenagers), I thought that the episode was excellent. Can't wait for next Thursday.
