  Emotionally Exciting. hide show

  I really loved this episode. It had everything. Our SRU team, specifically Ed Lane, is under direct fire and it's coming from the past. I loved you could feel the tension as well as the edgeness within the writing. You saw the team's concern for the target on Ed's back then the concern heightened when Jules goes down after being shot. As the case unfolds you could see Parker's brain trying to determine the next move while keep the team safe. I appreciated how they had Petar Tomasic from Scorpio, return to seek his revenge on Ed. It really gave it a reality, especially when the threat involved his son, that previous cases can come back to haunt them. Leaving them vulverable. I really like seeing the teams emotional side as well in dealing with both Ed and Jules, especially for Sam. Jules and Sam's secret is definitely out, we'll have to see what happens from here.

  The son of a victim wants revenge on Ed. hide show

  After a shaky start to the second season Flashpoint got right back on track here with a gripping, emotional installment. We saw how despite being well-prepared SRU is not always equipped to handle itself and casualties were suffered, both to the team and elsewhere.
  
  The later episodes of the first season had a moral question to go along with them that was missing from the last few prior to this. We saw just how tough the jobs of these men and women can be and how they need to cope with leading a man forward and into his death with a sniper.
  
  Really good episode and let's hope this show lasts another year on CBS.

• GOOF: Petar Tomasic is said to be an experienced expert sniper. Each time we see him peering over the edge of a roof he is wearing a sniper Ghillie Suit. They are designed to blend in with local vegetation, not with the straight lines of rooftops, ledges and windows in an urban setting. Tomasic would have known that. Does anyone think the team would have just ignored a strange clump of vegetation looming above the edge of a rooftop? [edit]

• This episode is originally meant to be the season finale which makes sense as Episode 1 "Scorpio" is about how the subject's father is killed when taking a woman hostage. Also with Jules being shot and her life in danger, this makes a good end of season cliff-hanger. The next episode, "Business As Usual" also makes sense as the first episode of season two because of its title and the introduction of the new character Donna (played by Jessica Steen) who is Jules' replacement while she is recovering.   Ed Lane: Subject is a skilled sniper, familiar with urban warfare. If he was missing his mark, he was missing it on purpose. Guys, this is a revenge situation. The good news - we've narrowed it down. (pauses) He's looking for me. [edit]

• Ed Lane: Yeah, if we don't get swatted again.
  
  Swatting is the term that has been applied in situations where emergency services are called to a location on the belief that a crime is being committed and/or there is a hostage situation. It has become increasingly popular thanks in part to internet phone services since unlike normal phone services, the location the person is calling from cannot be pinpointed. Recently a teenager who lived in Washington DC was arrested for making phone calls to a California 911 dispatch and claiming he was hyped up on drugs and had killed his sister. [edit]
• Jules: Remember the tower sniper
  Sam: Yeah 40 years ago. A guy in a clock tower
  Jules: Killed 16 people that day.
  
  The clock tower shootings that they are referring to happened on August 1, 1966. Charles Whitman climbed to the top of the University of Texas at Austin's clock tower. Starting at 11:48 am, Whitman proceeded to shoot unsuspecting students. When it was over, 16 people had died – including his wife and mother, both killed before he went to the clock tower- and 32 people were injured. Whitman was killed by Texas police officers. He had left a note explaining himself and asked for an autopsy. In the autopsy, they found that Whitman had a brain tumor. It is debated on whether or not the brain tumor affected his reasoning abilities. After the clock tower shootings, officials changed the way they dealt with hostage type situations and the first SWAT teams were formed. [edit]
