  • Important Update (02/06)

    Hi all,

You may have tried to edit season and episode numbers and noticed that these changes have not been published to the site. A bug is preventing them from getting all the way to the site but, rest assured, your data has NOT been lost - we're saving every one of your edits.

Our data team is hard at work on a fix which we plan to release in three weeks - we want to make sure we get it right without introducing any other issues. At that time, all edits and submissions you have made and continue to make will be published. We've also put more resources on content publishing and site tools going forward.

As always, talk to us if you have any questions.

  • TV.com Update [02/01]

    FIXED

    - You are now able to add new people to cast/crew in IE

    - You can now click through multiple pages to see all reviews

    - A bug which prevented users from receiving level points for reviews is now fixed

Please note that you cannot leave a review for an episode until the episode airs; we are trying to do the same for ratings

    - Clicking on "All" in episode guides will now list the episodes from the last 5 seasons

    Current issues

    - There is an issue with reordering episodes; changes do not appear on the site

    - Unable to edit cast designated Special Guest Star or Cameo

    - Some quotes are missing line-breaks

There is a new text field in the Show Summary submission form called Returning to Air. This field will only appear on shows which are listed as On Hiatus, and can be used to indicate when the show will return. The text can be vague (Fall 2012 or October 2012) or specific (October 8, 2012) depending on your source.

If you encounter 500 errors, or if the site seems to not work as expected, try to clear out your cache and delete your cookies and see if this solves your issue.

If you encounter any issues with episode guides (duplicate episodes, missing episodes, or episodes not in the right order) please contact nilla_chelle01 or etong87 via PM to get those guides fixed. Thanks!

  • 11/29 - New Show Pages; TV.com Blog; Site Bug Updates

You may have noticed an announcement pop up this morning while you were visiting your favorite show on TV.com. It looked something like this:

If you clicked on this little teaser, your Glee page went from looking like this:

    To this:

We've taken all the bits from the old TV.com that you loved, given them a polishing, and added a bunch of great new features. Here's what's new:

    New Look:

We've switched over to a cleaner and lighter look that makes show pages more accessible and easier to use. The new layout is intended to get you to the things you care most about faster and more efficiently, while at the same time making everything easier on the eyes. It also allows us add more information to each page without overwhelming you guys. As you can see, it makes exploration far more effortless.

    Easier Navigation:

We've moved the navigation tabs to the top of the page so you can get where you're going faster than ever before. We've also made it easier to quickly favorite, and rate shows, as well as write a review and watch all the available online episodes.

The Overview page also includes a brief Episode Guide, Show News, Full Episode links, Cast and Crew details, and Fan Reviews.

    Watch Online:

This is a brand new section! Here you will find full episodes and clips of any show. You can filter by free vs. paid sources and by what will play on your favorite mobile devices.

We've even added a nifty little pop-up to each episode image that links directly to the available streaming sources.

    Related Shows:

At the very bottom of each show page, you'll find a list of TV Series similar to the one you're looking at. These are our recommendations for other shows you might like, too. Take the time to browse through the list and let us know if you discover something new!

Our new show pages are just the first of many awesome updates that we have in store for you at TV.com. We're launching them today in beta to get feedback from our users, so please explore them and tell us what you think! You can leave us a comment on this post or add your feedback to our Get Satisfaction page.

And don't forget to keep an eye on blog.tv.com for more exciting updates!

  • New Header and Favorites Update

As you've noticed, TV.com's main header (the section of the page that appears up top) has changed. We've streamlined the tabs to feature the most popular pages on the site. It's now easier to see if you have new PMs, and for editors, if there are any new submissions in your moderation queue. The search feature has also been streamlined. If you search for a show, clicking on the dropdown listing will now take you directly to the show page instead of the search results page. We've also seen your feedback regarding the Favorites listing in the new header, and as per your requests, we've added a scroll bar to the display. Improving the user experience is an ongoing process. Please keep the feedback coming. Thanks!

    For Editors:

  • Submissions Issues

    Hi,

As most of you have noticed, we have implemented a new WYSIWYG editor in the submission fields for trivia, quotes, notes, and allusions to make it easier for you to format your submissions.
We're also really excited about the upcoming improvement to our Quotes submission tool which will automatically format quote submissions for you! This is going to be great for all those lengthy conversations between Liz and Jack on 30 Rock.

Our Community Staff is dedicated to keeping you informed of any changes we make to the site and listening to your feedback. TV.com's goal is to make submitting to our People and Show guides easier and more enjoyable for everyone. We know change is often accompanied by questions and concerns so, as always, please feel free to PM staff with your thoughts. We greatly value our open dialogue with all of you.

    Happy Submitting!

  • Changes to Submission Forms

The submissions fields for Quotes, Notes, Trivia, and Allusions on show and person guides now utilize the simple to use WYSIWYG editor already available on forums. This is to give submitting users the ability to quickly format their submissions without having to encode the HTML manually. All submission formatting guidelines still apply.

Update: For those wondering about the extra spaces between lines, you can use Shift+Enter rather than just Enter. Using Shift+Enter won't add in any extra line breaks to your submission.

  • Site Issues - FIXED

The issues with episode submissions has been fixed. Users should be able to submit to episode summaries as usual and editors may moderate those submissions accordingly. The additional US air date field has been removed for now, but we will still look at ways to implement this in the future.

There was also an issue with the site blog not displaying on the forums page, but this has also been resolved. Thanks for your patience and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Episode Submission Issue

As you might have noticed, the episode submission form has changed somewhat. Implementing user suggestions, separate air dates for non-US originating shows has been added to the form. However, the deployment of this feature has had some unforeseen effects on episode submissions as a whole. We are well aware of the issues and are working to resolve them.

In the meantime, please refrain from submitting episode summary edits and moderating current episode submissions as they will not publish correctly to the site. We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we work on resolving the issues.
