Let's say your favorite show is Lost and you just wrote a killer recap of last nights episode and you'd like to submit it to the guide. Here are the steps you'd take to add that recap:
Step 1: Go to the Lost guide on TV.com
Step 2: Click on Episode Guide tab
Step 3: Click on the blue link that says, "Add Edit", this will open up the Episode Submission form
Step 4: The Episode Submission form allows you to add the episode's Title, a brief Summary, the more detailed Recap, and information about when the episode aired - date/time/season number/etc.
Step 5: In the Comment box, you can let the Editor of the show know what you are submitting, the source of your information, and anything
else you'd like to mention. Make friends!
Step 6: Click "Submit!"
Once you click "Submit", your submission will go to a Moderation Queue. If the show has an Editor, the Editor will either Accept or Reject your submission; if the show has no Editor, TV.com Staff will moderate your submission.
Each submission works pretty much the same way. You will see "Add/Edit" buttons on every Episode and Show Guide. First time submitters should check out our FAQ's about submissions.
Each submission earns you Contribution Points towards the guide you are submitting to. With enough points, you could become the Editor!

I wanted to take the opportunity to use this space and thank you all for a very, very successful chat last Tuesday. Nearly four thousand people showed up! That is HUGE! Sure, my brain seized up a couple (four) times trying to field the nearly ten thousand questions that came in, but the blood stopped coming out of my ears and I think everything will be okay now. Special thanks to our guests, Pauley Perrette and Cote de Pablo - thanks for taking time to chat with us and answer our questions. You guys are great and we hope you'll join us again soon. More special thanks to our own Studog2961 and More_NCIS_Now - who provided us with our polls and a lot of really excellent questions. Guys, I'm sorry I couldn't get more of them in; bleeding ears, brain frozen, I'm sure you understand. We know this is only the first in a series of exciting celebrity driven TV.com chats and we hope you'll join us again. Thanks for all the great questions and comments and stay tuned for more fun stuff coming soon to the TV.com near you.

The Celebrated Finale Fanfare is up! We're all sad our favorite shows are ending for the summer, but we're also looking forward to a great month of TV. How will it all end? Who knows? Well, we're not giving up all our secrets, but we are offering some tasty glimpses into what's to come. And if Leonard and Penny don't get together, I'm going to be writing letters - count on it!
As you may have already noticed, we have added themes back to the genre menu on the show summary submission guide. In an effort to accurately organize the many varieties of shows out there, we have decided to designate a show's main genre ourselves, when the show is initially added. Once the main genre is in place, you guys can choose from a long list of themes, which will help describe what a show is all about as accurately as possible. You'll still receive CPs for adding themes and you can let us know if we're missing any themes you feel should be on the list. Theme additions can be sent to email@example.com – but please keep in mind it might take a while for the theme you've added to appear. Also – we're still tweaking the pages so you might not see your submission live on the guide till Tuesday. So if you don't see it displayed, don't resubmit! It will display!! Thanks and keep on submitting!
Thanks for the all the feedback and comments you've given us on the latest redesigned show guides. We've been working hard to optimize the guides, and as a direct result of your feedback, we've implemented the following:
*Putting cast/crew, notes, trivia, etc. back on the main episode page.
*Bringing the show summary back to front and center on the Show guide's main page.
*Restoring the "Next Episode" link on the Show main page.
Please keep the feedback coming! TV.com thrives on the passion of users like you, and we're constantly striving to improve the user experience. Keep posting in the forums and sending e-mails to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know what you think!
We wanted to let you know that we've made a couple of changes to our submission policy. Previously, editing submissions ONLY to add links to a guide (for instance, linking Paula Abdul's name in the American Idol show summary back to her guide) were not allowed. However, we're trying to make navigation easier and, to drive traffic to all TV.com pages, we're allowing edits to links to guides as a valid submission. We realize this might create some confusion at first, but here are some guidelines to help out:
- Editors are required to accept edits to add links. Editors are NOT required to go through and add in all the missing links on their guides (that is, we're not going to "cite" an editor for not having proper linkage in his or her guide).
- Proper linkage is not mandatory to make a submission. So an editor cannot reject a submission because it doesn't have proper linkage. However, if there is reason to believe that users are submitting information without links, and then consciously going back to put the links in, such users should be warned and reported for gaming.
- Links do not have to be added beyond the first reference to a person or guide in the submission. So if Hugh Laurie's biography refers to House several times, only the first instance of the show should be linked. However, several separate items on the same page (i.e., list of trivia) should be linked separately (since those are different submissions).
- Links should NOT be added to speakers' names in Quote submissions, nor to link back to the current page (i.e., mentions of Hugh Laurie in Hugh Laurie's biography should not link back to Hugh Laurie's guide).
For tips on how to add links, please see more_ncis_now's great post in the User to User Help Forum here.
Also, please remember that many old submissions might still carry b and i tags which you will need to edit to the new strong and em tags when submitting. For more help on this, see here.
The second change is that only links to TV.com guides will now be allowed in submissions. No links to external sites, including other CBS Interactive properties, should be added to the guides. Our focus in making these changes is to drive traffic to TV.com pages, so we're more concerned about adding links rather than taking away existing links to other sites (such as MovieTome or Mp3.com). That said, submissions to remove links to non-TV.com pages should be considered valid (except, of course, the links to episode videos and official sites input by staff).
Please let us know if you run into any issues with these two changes.
The switchover to the new showpage design is complete! We're no longer in preview mode anymore. We are live. The entirety of the showpage has been integrated into the new design. Including:
Video Viewing Page
Some of the new stuff you'll see on the pages:
- As requested, Videos now feature a "dim the lights" view for a better watching experience
- Episode Guide vs. Episode List view switching is now integrated onto the page. Just one simple click on the buttons and you can switch between them. These preferences are also sticky, so the page will remember your last setting.
- Navigation: Remember when all the page tabs were at the top? We've brought that back for you, along with easier access to new videos and forum discussions, straight from the main showspace to you!
In addition to the new showspaces, you'll find something slightly different about our private messaging (PM) system here on TV.com. Historically, TV.com users have shared access to GameSpot, MovieTome and MP3.com community features, including a shared username, profile, and PM system. However, in an effort to focus exclusively on being the premier destination for TV online, TV.com will be gradually phasing out these shared functions over the next few months. Seperating ourselves will ensure that the latest and most relevant TV info takes center stage in your inbox.
PMs sent from TV.com are no longer accessible through MovieTome and GameSpot, or vice versa. Any messages that are already in your inbox will remain, but no new messages can be sent across the sites. The PM system will continue to function just like it does now, but exclusively on TV.com. PMs sent through GameSpot will only be accessible on GameSpot; PMs sent through TV.com will remain only on TV.com.
